Bought my first boat!

I finally found the perfect starter boat for me, and I jumped on it. She's a 1967 Kenner 26 Privateer. She has some leaks around the portholes but overall a solid boat. I'm sort of getting my excitement out here, as honestly, it feels really narcissistic talking to non boat people about buying a boat lol. Hopefully the attachment loads up.

Wind459, congratulations on your new boat. I like the salty lines. Hope you will have many years of pleasant adventures with her. Don't worry about what the non boaters think now that you are a super wealthy yachtsman![emoji6]

Re: Bought my first boat!

lol thanks guys, @markwesti its a Ketch Rig, and I'm going to be sailing out of Chicago this summer. She has a trailer, so depending on how I feel I might relocate her to Superior for a season or, if I really feel ready down to Florida, god knows it will be cheaper to keep her in either of those locations, but time will tell lol!

@Tayana42 , I believe that most people really do think I have gold bars hidden away somewhere, but really I'm just good at buying old stuff and putting a lot of sweat equity into it, lol.

Thanks for all the comments on her, she really does have amazing lines, and Im already drawing up plans for modifications that work around those parameters. The last thing I want to do is hurt her silhouette.

Yes, Congrats, I always liked Gillmer's work, my first Boat was his Allied Seawind 30, almost bought his Weatherly 32 once, it was in Alaska, somebody got to it before I could, yeah, don't listen to the naysayers at all, they will never understand what drives us, it's useless to try and convince certain people about this, I wish you the best with her

That's no lie!! Welcome, and just to reinforce, you should always refer to her as a yacht, not a boat!

http://imgur.com/a/sUVIQ Try this out let me know if it populates. While we are at it, completely noobie worried about probably nothing question. how much of a grade can a sailboat cradle handle on the hard. I tried to level the trailer out as best I could but getting a 5 - 10 grade in it , she is at least angled properly for water to drain from the cockpit.

Do you mean the trailer is on a slope or the cradle is not holding the boat level on the trailer? If she is going to be parked for a while it is wise to put blocks under the trailer frame and take the load off the axles/wheels if you are on level ground. The cradle looks like it is form-fitting pretty well so I am guessing it is fine even if not on a level slope.

Re: Bought my first boat!

OP: beautiful boat! I like the interior especially. Not so sure about the helm...are you supposed to kneel before it orrr?

I'd love to know how it sails! Don't think I've seen that style before, di I see that right? It's wider before midship?
