I red a book about a Swedish guy sailing around the world. It had a pretty detailed financial section and in 1988 he bought a new base
Beneteau 500 at 1.870K Swedish krona exluding
taxes. This eaquates to 199K Euro.
From Beneteau's web page, a new base
Oceanis 50 costs 209K Euro plus
taxes, only 5% more than in 1988.
I quickly googled on inflation multipliers and there are between 5-10 to look at such as consumer
price index, production worker compensation, etc. Using roughly an average, 199K Euro today equals about 370K Euro.
So a new base
Oceanis 50 should cost about 370K Euro but it "only" costs 209K, or about 45% less expensive.
Pretty good for us.
