So many opinions, its a great read. As a first yacht, always go a little cheaper I think, a first buy is a feeling out process as to what you really want in a yacht for you.
I was well advised by a few salty types to ideally have center cockpit, and consider nothing other than solid hand laid fiberglass as the best construction. After my first yacht being dynel over ply, and spending time in the slipway where I was moored and hearing the horror stories of newer expensive production foam cored yachts and the like, the advice I was given always stuck with me.
I now own a center and aft cockpit, hand laid fiberglass yacht that I would consider was purchased on the best possible advice. My live abord yacht was purchased for well under 40k, and going against what many may believe, it is a solid investment as is already valued 10k above the purchase price with approx 4-5k invested. It is in no way impossible to make a 400-500% profit on a wise choice and some work, even in today's market.

I guess I am saying, a fixer-upper is a great way to go if you get the right one and have a go at doing 90% of the work yourself.

'small sailboats are slooow' a 35footer will seldom average more than 5knotst--he difference between 5and 6 knots is 20%. on a 'days run' of 24hours in good trade winds its 5X24=120 or 6X24=144--these will seldom happen. More like 4X24=96 and 5X24 =120 for a 42foot---waterline makes all the difference in getting there.

Depends on one's point of view. You could say that all sailboats are slow. With an aeroplane you would already be there. Also large cruising ships would be faster.

Some sailors say that they are there (destination) when they have left the dock. Small sailboats are probably not any slower in leaving the dock.

Small boats are faster also in the sense that buying a faster (larger) boat could mean few more years waiting time (collecting money). That would be slow.

Normally a 35k boat buys you a boat that can take you world cruising. How much you pay above a "minimum" depends only on how big a boat you want, how much quality counts to you and how important branding is to you. 175k buys you a very very decent mid size boat.

If you are in Scandinavia, buy locally. Very good boats there at very reasonable prices.

If you know you will go far, get the target boat, skip the in-between trials and errors, save bucks.

I have Sun Liberty 34 and I'm extremely happy with it, two cabin two toilettes, great kitchen area, huge lounge , 2x king size beds and ALOT of storage space and all this in 9.98x3.5 hull size - juts found one not very far from you in Holland which looks in great shape:

I have now looked up your avatar and found you may be in Stockholm area. Hejsan.

Have a look at boats like HR 36 - they seem to be ticking all (most?) of your boxes. A nice, well built go anywhere boat than can be comfortably coast or world cruised by two (and is easily handled by one person, from the cockpit).

Friends of ours here are / will be / selling theirs, one owner from new and in great condition throughout. Well equipped - they have been to the West Indies and back (I believe more than once). She is flagged in Sweden too so minimum paperwork. But you would have to deliver her from Canary Islands to ...

Have fun shopping, look up HR36 on blocket or in your local marina, you may like,
