Why Alcohol and UFOs don't mix

Hi..
Overnight anchored at Santa Cruz Isl, So Cal , we panicked a little when the night skies lit up with a string of stars rushing across the skies flashing by very fast. No abduction and no memory erased, we found out the next day that it was the Starlink chain of satellites.
Pretty cool to witness on a moonless dark night out in the ocean. Not very cool at first when you have no idea what you were witnessing without phone or internet reception to identify what you just saw specially when your wife is into UFOs conspiracy theories and we all shared a couple of bottles of wine.

One of my favorite iPhone apps, "Sky Guide", does not need any connection to identify objects in the sky. (stars, planets, satellites) just point your phone toward the object in the sky, tap it and identify it. Note that you'll need a software update since last year, as they have added a whole sub-category of satellites for Starlink.

Still, the correct amount of alcohol will always cause interesting UFO discussions on a moonless night... iPhone or no iPhone.

These things are cool unless you are a astronomer trying to take a long duration image of a deep sky object. The sky is so full of this crap, it's difficult to take a image without a large white streak (or many large streaks) going through the middle of it.

Did this happen on Saturday night, May 29? I think we saw the same light show. My wife and I were backing in the Emigrant Wilderness in Cali and saw all these lights shooting across the sky. At first we thought we saw our first shooting star of the night, but then a lot more followed, at least a dozen or more. They looked like they were in formation, all in a straight line and some two-by-two. It was very odd. We didn't think they were satellites because they moved so fast. We've never seen satellites move like these did. Good to learn about the Starlink chain of satellites.

That's what he wants you to think. Actually it's a scouting party from Elon's home planet prior to the invasion.

No..it happened Sunday tne 20th. Keep in mind that darn things go round and round showing up at different times and places. ...and yes they were going fast because they are in a lower orbit.

Re: Why Alcohol and UFOs don't mix

The other part of the story is that half hour prior my guests were freeking out when a star over our mast was moving very eratic only to be reasured that it was a bright star and that we were the ones rocking and moving. Sooo..when the Starlink showed up and my wife is screaming aliens...all hell broke loose.
