I am 47,married and has 2 girls aged 5 and 11 and lives in Tzaneen
South Africa. We decided 2 months ago to rid ourselfs off all our debt and go sailing in a few years time once we have saved up enough
money and can secure a monthly
income. When talking to Ange at International Yacht brokers in
Cape Town i was told that it is actually very
cheap to life on a
boat.We are now looking at
buying a mk1 Wildcat 35ft at Port owen. We have now got the estate agent at the house this morning and i am putting my one shop in Tzaneen up
for sale to buy a
boat. When doing the maths i realized my debt is what is killing my dreams so i am saving a small fortune by living on the boat.Once i get my
training and feel confident i will do the South african coast for a year or 3 and then take the plunge and do a crossing.
What started of as a 4year plan has quickly escalated over the last month.I will be asking a lot of questions over the next couple of months.
I just have to point out that i have zero sailing experience but did
work for e few months on a
commercial fishing boat many moons ago.
