For those who haven't read the whole thread but noticed the chain plates, this is from one of Dan's earlier posts:

Welcome aboard, pop.

You're about where many of us are aiming to be... soon.

Fair winds.... actually, strong winds may be better

Re: One Way to 'Do the Dream'

Thank everyone for the warm welcome. Of course I had a budget when I started but that was quickly trashed LOL. The survey came back as 'fair' meaning new sails, anodes, cutless bearing etc. Nothing major but because of timing, we require a second haulout to perform the required tasks. We have been living aboard for 5 days now and still haven't found it cramped----I guess give it more time. I am sure there will be lots of I questions I need to ask but for now my wife and I are just sitting back and enjoying the quiet time.

My survey is scheduled for Nov 22nd. I have a refit budget but I hope I don't need to hit it that hard. With luck I will be heading down the ICW before Christmas.

Quick update. The sail to Langkawi is complete. Very light winds and Pop reports a motorsail with a bit of a thunderstorm along the way. The boat is on the hard until the 16th for anti-foul, anodes, a minor rudder repair and a cutlass bearing.

The deal is also complete, monies changed hands so Pop is a goner now! I am trying to avoid any unnecessary work so I am planning to join them again in Thailand in a couple of weeks. From there it is wherever the skipper decides to point her and I plan to stay aboard for 5 days or so.

Pop has already figured out how to anchor far enough away from the marina to not incurr mooring fees but close enough to steal WiFi. I expect he will have some contributions to the $500 a month thrread soon.

Here is a quarter view as she was hauling out for the survey in Phuket.

Cheers!
