Re: Im about to do it

Just to give an update, I have my survey scheduled up for the 12th. Then we will have to schedule up sea trials at a later date. More like the following week or week after that. Then I should be the new owner. Im sooo excited. After I take possession of the boat I will have to find a few people who want to sail it back home with me. Unless I want to be daring and single hand sail it

Re: Im about to do it

When we bought out yacht it had a traditiional stuffing box fitted. I swopped that out with a Volvo seal (DSS type) in short order and now have dusty bilges. Nothing would make me go back to using bits of rope and grease with a drip every minute or so into the bilge, yuk.

Maintenance is 1cm3 of the Volvo grease and only the Volvo grease each year and to burp the seal if we dry out at any time. The Volvo seal won't fail catastrophically, instead after some years of use they start to slowly drip but only in use, not stationary.
