How Old is your Fiberglass Boat?

Just curious- how many of us are sailing boats as old as we are?

I had a 1962 Holland Contest for 27 years, still going strong when i sold her, She even survived a tree falling on her while in storage. The old glass boats are still a great value and many will out live us lol.

Our Ericson 39B is not as seasoned as we are but she sure is beautiful and she sure turns heads. Sails like a dream too

Mine's older than me. '69 Coronado 25.

The boat seems incredibly solid. Just a few little things I'd like to do:

Replace the ports
Re-seal the chainplate covers
Replace the thru-hulls and seacocks. Only 2 of them actually, the rest are deactivated.

The rest is all cosmetic.

She hit 16 knots on her sea trials, my last sail with her, in a ~14 knot breeze. I think I've slowed down more than her. She was in better shape than when I bought her, 15 years earlier.

I have a 1965 pearson Invicta mk2...2 yrs older than I am. She needs mostly cosmetic work...the gel coat is so far gone it's almost a total do-over. Great boat, great fun to sail!

I am older then my current keel boat by 9 years. She is from 1967' and is a Tartan 27' and has always been a comfort as well as a hole to throw money into. Cheaper then any used car I've ever bought and a better ride as well.
I like old GRP boats that have some character or so it would seem.
Ditto nico105 on the aging gel coat. It seems as if 40 years is a lot to ask of gel-coat to endure.

My friend's Cal 34 that I sailed for years is a 69. I now own a 65 Cal 40.

I am older than my boat. I was born in 1958, she in 1983... but we are both showing the signs of age.
But she is in the midst of a refit, alas, I am sorry to say, I cannot be. But each one of us struggles on to the greater glory....

Old boats are the best boats.

My boat is 1973 and I am 1986, so the boat is 13 years older than me!

I am a 1962 model, myself.

My boat was built in 1980.

My father-in-law has a Galaxy 32 fiberglass sloop that was built in 1958...

Bluestocking was launched by Cheoy Lee on July 1st 1965, 20 years to the day after I was launched in 1945. When I gutted here back to a bare hull in 94, for the 4 1/2yr rebuild, on grinding off all the interior paint, there were Chinese character building notes visible thru the glass all over the hull. I gain a romantic satisfaction knowing I am always sailing in such esteemed company as crew.

Sitting on my 1969 Cal 34 as I type. Certainly needs some love, but a very solid boat that will get me where I need to go for a long time to come. Oh, and I am a 1971 model, so I guess she is a couple of years older. As someone above said, she will probably out last me.
