John, thank you for this information. I was unclear about the alternator light. The OP and Temp sensors are clearly on/off affairs and should work fine with an LED lamp. As you point out, the charging light needs to be a bulb that can pass a bit of amperage. I'll plan to replace the charging light with a stock Yanmar bulb and socket, if needed. I haven't inspected it carefully yett as it works reliably.
how does the wiring pass through the mast into the cabin on a cal 34, I can not find ant access plates on the mast or in the cabin at the compression post. n eed to run vhf and mast anchor light. thanks for any help, or info where I can get pictures....
Hi John,
Apart from a new v-drive which is very pricy the hunt for a recon or second hand one appears to be difficult. would you have any suggestions where to look, any link?
All the best
I am the proud owner of a CAL40 myself and wish to find a v-drive to fit with the Yanmar 3HM I am about to install (my boat was converted to electric by the previous owner and the original v-drive thrown away)
Could you give me some info on what v-drive I should be looking for?
Your input would be greatly appreciated,
All the best,
Syl
hello -
i saw your post about the MHK bilge pump, and i may have the same problem - it doesn't pump, so i probably need to rebuild it (or service it, at least). i turned the flaps (check valves) around, so they close now - yet it still wouldn't prime, must be a problem with the diaphragm. did you ever resolve the issue? i know it's been a couple of years, but maybe you remember.
thank you!
