Re: Handy stuff for pocket cruisers, et al.

Kestral hand held wind Anemometer. Gives temp, winfmd speed, water temp, barometric pressure. Use it on my boat since I do not have mast head instruments.

I like the 3M Command Adhesives hooks, and I have one of these Oxyled touch sensor lights in the top loading icebox Click image for larger version

So this may look like an empty detergent bottle with a handy pour spout, but I think I see a great alcohol container and dispenser.

WANT!! NEED!! MUST HAVE!!!!

You won't regret it. I've had an Aeropress for over 12 years now. On my second order of filters. It's my go-to when having coffee alone.

And it's great on the boat... with one small downside. If you forget to pack one or more of the parts... no coffee. Yes it happened one weekend.

To keep the peace, on the boat we now mainly use a collapsable drip filter like below:

For a total cost under $200 (don't forget the memory card), she has a setup that produced this video:

Reminds me of a story the first skipper I raced with told. He was cruising in the south Pacific and became acquainted with this guy single-handing on a moderately large boat for that time. One evening fairly early in their acquaintance they're BSing on the singlehander's boat and the guy offers everyone shots of rum. To dispense the drinks he goes over to the kitchen sink and turns on one of the taps. Turns out he'd gone thru the caribbean and stocked up on very inexpensive rum. Having multiple water tanks, he just dedicating a 70gal tank to the rum which made storage easier. I think avoiding alcohol limits and duties was also part of the deal but the story is from 30yr ago so I don't remember that well.

GoPro's are great, but I can't justify the cost for my occasional uses either. Last year, in a sale on my favourite Chinese sales site, I got a GoPro knockoff for around US$50. It has all the bits including mounts and a waterproof case.

It is not as good or robust as a GoPro, but it's been useful and good fun for the money. Last summer I lashed the camera to a boathook, started it in record, then submerged it and manoevered around the keel, and this produced a great inspection video. This year I'd like to attach it to a kite and fly it off a the stern for some great chase video.

PS I also have a Garmin handheld - got a GPSMAP 64st for Christmas, plus the bluechart for all of Canada and I like your idea of the swingout mount. I also put a lanyard on it for handheld use.

Re: Handy stuff for pocket cruisers, et al.

Ok everyone, I have a Columbia 29 and she's a beauty but not a massive interior so space comes at a premium. After looking around the wife and I had decided to build a centerline table with two leaves, thinking it would give us the best value.

After speaking to Don and discussing why he was removing his custom made centerline table I kept looking for more ideas and came across this. I think its the answer to a solid table and useable space on pocket cruisers or any confined space. I may even buy an extra mount for this table leg and mount on in the generous cockpit for when we want to do drink outside or put food for the kids out, etc.

Meet the Lagun Table Leg! The second video really gives you a good idea, the first one is if you want to see more on the leg mounting.

This is the best price anywhere on the internet I could find after much searching and shipping will impress you. Customer service was very prompt with answers also.

Here is the folding teak table top I am buying, they have three different sizes and quality appears to be quite nice as well.
