The navigator would let us know when we were past the 12 mile limit and the garbage bags would go off the fantail back when I was on a vessel.

For garbage we have a hole in the bulkhead between the galley and the cockpit locker. We put the garbage through the hole "port" and it's out of the way. Also helps reduce odors in the cabin

I use my trusty 5 gallon bucket to wash dishes in salt water and then rinse in fresh.
Use less.

Mahi-mahi, dolphin(fish), dorado.....same, same. Not sure if mahi-mahi is Hawaiian or from another Polynesian language (possibly Maori?) but the fish was called that long before the marketing folks realized people were more comfortable ordering "mahi-mahi" than dolphin. Similar thing happened with tilapia. For decades tilapia was considered trash fish in Hawaii and still is by some folks. Then upscale restaurants found out they could get the fish CHEAP from the Phillipines and Voila! you can now find it on the menu at many a NY bistro.

Fresh Mahi/Dorado is an excellent eating fish. Tilapia, not so much IMO. Too many small bones.

But anyone can grow tilapia in their back yard cheap.

Had a neighbor doing that over forty years ago

RV's have small electric trash compactors, Squashes it down to a small square in a plastic bag,
Same size as an electric ice maker, 25 litres a day,
I think they are 110 volts, I dont know as I have never used either,
The icemaker I pulled out and the garbage compactor I use as a garbage bag holder and throw the rubbish in a bin,
Washing clothes I just use a bucket and hang them on the rails,

Yup. Same thing. Spanish name. A big bull is an impressive and beautiful fish when it comes out of the water. Kodak moment, before his colors fade.

Hmmmm! You're the parent!

But, seriously, let her use a small bit of conditioner before her fresh water rinse, if she has long hair, but she really doesn't need shampoo every day... she's being taken advantage of by shampoo and other hair products pushers. I know this works because I used to have mid-back length hair.

Re: Can we talk? About some of the mundane...

You will limit onboard garbage if you remove all packaging / wrapping stuff from whatever you drag on the boat. We get rid of as much garbage as we can by NOT bringing any excess up first. I do not need that huge colorful Kellog's box to know that there are my flakes in that much smaller inner plastic bag ...

And for dish washing I have this: wash immediately after eating, only moisten the dish and wipe it quick with the liquid ... and then place it in a net, and hang the net overboard. Use quality net though ;-)

Cheers,
b.

Hmmmmm! Somebody mentioned milk … milk is designed for infants both animal & human. Not advised for adults … learn to do without it. Drink your coffee or tea the same way as whisky … neat! You don't really need milk, & like me, you just may find some of your other health problems disappear.

"Rod in the head" I wondered about this one, Must have been very painful. Was there a flint head & feather flites on it? If so, could you tell if it was Apache or Chippewa?

I have found a coconut cream rum that tastes great with espresso. I guess not technically a cappacino though;-)

I think in NY bistros it’s back in the trash category. It’s dirt cheap everywhere and the reason is it tastes like dirt...or more like mud I guess. It’s fine as something you throw in stew but alone, as a protein...I’d rather eat canned tuna.

The mud/dirt taste may be related to aquaculture techniques and may vary but I’ve never had one I liked, and at the price of it trust me I have tried valiantly.

Only tip I have for this thread is to string drying lines across the boat, beam to beam. Stuff dries in half the time it seems vs along the lifelines.
