Yes, you are of course correct. However my comment was as to why the US has a hardon for Cuba, not the expats.
Opps, I better shut up before Sarafina snubs my leash up short.

Yep. Especially considering that it is only a matter of time now (and not all that much time) before it is going to be legal anyway.

I call myself a boring regulator because I am. However, due to the work I do there is the possibility that anyone coming into the U.S. from Cuba could fall into my area or responsibility. You do not want your case coming to me.
If you are a U.S. citizen coming to the U.S., any U.S. state, territory or district, from Cuba after an illegal visit, do not lie. Also, follow all rules and regulations concerning anything you are carrying from outside the U.S. territorial waters. You do not want your case coming to me.
If you are stupid enough to lie on any CBP form or to any federal officer, or agent dog of the Beagle Brigade, it is extremely difficult to hide anything from the beagles (the dogs are federal agents in their own right), you really do not want your case coming to me. Although I have great sympathy and understanding of real world circumstances and often work to give a break to those with an oops in life - do not ever lie to me. The results are never good for those who lie.

That's Alcatraz Island in the San Francisco Bay. A Federal Prison that has been closed for many years

You mean you won't accept "the internet told me to" as an excuse? Why, I'm shocked! Just shocked!
So, just to make my opinion on this really clear, taking the advice of some bozo off the internet who tells you that it is okay to break the law is REALLY STUPID!!!

And why would you want to waste your one life being a boring regulator when you could be sailing the Caribe meeting new and exiting peoples and countries. What horrible fate do you imagine you are saving us all from?
Travel to Cuba is illegal because Florida is a swing state in National elections and the Cuban vote can easily carry the state. The Cubans in Florida are pissed off because they were the white upper and middle class in Cuba that had it all before the revolution. All the other people in Florida are pissed off just because they're in Florida.
The Cold War has been over for 20 years now.

I don't want to seem that I'm directing my comments to you, but it has created an avenue for an opservation.
One of the most delightful things about going cruising was the absents of a daily dose of Cable News. I was out cruising from the fall of 2000 until the spring of 2009. I missed the entire Bush II era!
In my travels I learned that each country had its own interrpation of their preception of reality. Reather than stress out about it I adjusted to the situation and got on with the process of enjoying my new found lifestyle.
The biggest thing I've noticed in people's atitude, upon my return, is this apparent bloodsport of cynicism and creating a conspiracy theory about everything that we disagree with.
A very wise man once told me to not become focused on things you can't change. Deeply concerned, maybe but don't stress-out about it.
Regards.

Because some of us are not lucky enough to be retired and still need to earn a living?
