Re: Lying when Entering the US
the embargo was not because cuba is communist. it is because of the way the government of cuba used to treat the people and political prisoners. then castro took over from batista, saying he was gonna change it and made it same as previous admin did, and we got alll bent out of shape .. then the nuke crisis for jfk didnt help either.. isnt because is commie--there are many commie nations we do business with.

Re: Lying when Entering the US
How much of this baloney has to do with your governments' corporate masters still being honked off that all their toys in Cuba were nationalized at their expense?
It would be so much simpler if your elected idiots in Washington just gave up and let Cuba be.

Re: Lying when Entering the US
Hey Sports fans, while I know it seems almost absurd for a thread like this one, the political content needs to be reeled in.
Keep it to getting in and out and how to do it, ok?
Thanks ; -)

Re: Lying when Entering the US
I know a British photographer who goes to Cuba every year. I see his photos. If anyone HAD to go there they would complain. My question is WHY would ANYONE want to risk their freedom and boat to go there. The people seem like good people from what he says, but visiting with nice strangers is not a good enough reason. To many legal places to visit.

Plenty of other countries south of Canada that I would fight tooth and nail to avoid having to go there.

You're forgetting about all the small business owners whose assets Castro & Co. stole from them. Didn't you ever wonder why all those Cubans immigrated to the U.S. in the decade following the revolution?

Re: Lying when Entering the US
It's amazing how much people want to see stuff they're told they can't... or made so difficult they're scared that they won't follow each and every little detail to the "T" and get busted.
There's so much out there to see, and Cuba isn't on my list... If you have a real issue with all this visit and Homeland Security stuff, just denounce your citizenship, get another passport from another country and enjoy life somewhere else.
LOL

Re: Lying when Entering the US
I've have friends who've travelled to Cuba, had a fantastic time and said the place, people and culture was amazing. I'll definitely stop by there if I'm in the neigbourhood.

Omellete and Eggs.
Given how the country and the Dictator was controlled by US business interests (legit and not) and neo Feudal Cuban family interests, really no choice but to take radical action - pretty much about starting again.
Folk can say whatever they want about Castro (and they do - and a lot of it is right)...........but he avoided turning Cuba into another Haiti, and he managed that without the assistance of Uncle Sam Unlike Haiti.........
