1985 Bluewater Gulfstar 50 Sailmaster Cutter - $79,000

Everything works on this boat!

Brand new sails with only 2 weeks use on them.

Easy to handle. All electric everything. Electric winches, electric windlass, etc.

Top of the line 7KW Northern Lights generator works flawlessly.

Bow AND stern thrusters make it easy to handle in any situation.

HUGE tankage. 350 gallons fresh water, 200 gallons diesel. Goes for a month or two easily without coming back to land.

This boat is ready to cruise the world now. Boat has been through the Panama Canal twice, to Hawaii, all up and down the West Coast, through the Caribbean and all up and down the East Coast USA. Sure footed blue water cruiser different from the lesser Gulfstar designs. This is the real deal.

Price is low and firm to avoid haggling and actually sell the boat. Sisterships in worse condition are going for $100K+. No surprises will be found on survey.

Equipment List:

Vetus Bow and Stern Thrusters

Northern Lights 7KW Generator in perfect running order

Brand new Main, Genoa and Staysail only 2 weeks use on them. Very crisp and new.

Perkins Engine runs flawlessly.

Fuel polishing system

New Manson Supreme 45lb anchor

200' chain

Ideal electric windlass

Cutter rig

Liferaft (out of date, needs replacement)

Hard cockpit enclosure with solar on top

Electric winches

Aluminum propane tanks

Davits, outboard mount

Raritan Elegance Electric heads x2

DC electric refrigerator and freezer

Propane stove and oven

Huge Galley with plenty of storage and room to cook

Microwave oven

Deep double sink like a house

TV, various DVD players, audio in all rooms with volume control in all rooms and on deck

Sat phone, weatherfax, HF radio, vhf radio, you name it. She was an amazing yacht in her day. These items are a little old but work.

Integrated raymarine chartplotter/radar with display at nav station and at helm. Raymarine hydraulic auto pilot.

New Zincs

Beautiful aft master stateroom with huge bed and lots of light. Lots of light everywhere due to a deck salon type design.

Full standing separate shower. Large master head/bath.

Holding tank, macerator, etc.

A couple more pic.

Sorry many are sideways. Incompatibility between iPhone images containing orientation in EXIF data in the images and the forum image software.

Only reason I don't have a proper exterior pic is that it's hard to fit the boat in a pic (it's on the first slip on the dock and it's a 50' boat) and I'm 1000 miles away from it currently. It's located near the Statue of Liberty. I'm in Florida.

Thanks, George. I’ve owned other Gulfstar sailboats. This one is a different level of quality. It's more rugged than the others. In the 70's Gulfstar built a bad reputation for shoddy work. These shoddy processes were fixed by the 1980's. They have never really shaken their bad rep from the 1970's. My comment is a matter of the year as much as the model.

Model wise, she's just built like a rock. Everything is strong and beefy.

Year wise, she's in the early 1980's when Gulfstar got its act together.

Also, there is an epoxy barrier coat already done which I have the reciept for.

Damn! What a nice boat! Far too large for me, I would positively rattle around inside of that being the single hander I am. It is impressive however.

Looks like a pretty nice boat to me as well and a very reasonable price.
Good deal for someone who wants a Bluewater capable boat.

Re: 1985 Bluewater Gulfstar 50 Sailmaster Cutter - $79,000

Gulfstars are wonderful heavy duty built boats. The masts and rigging will take anything you can give it.
These make two of the modern boats that fall apart in rough weather.
I have a Gulfstar 53 ft ketch.
It had been around the world twice before I bought it.
Today we put about 6,000 miles a year on ours sailing the Caribbean, and the USA.

Where is this boat located? Is there a link to a listing?

Hi. The boat is located right next to the Statue of Liberty. And this is the listing. I’m working up a better document with more information. I’ve had a lot of questions and I have obviously left plenty out.

Re: 1985 Bluewater Gulfstar 50 Sailmaster Cutter - $79,000

This is frightening. It makes modern new expensive boats look positively grossly overpriced. And it makes my old boat look near valueless.
Some years ago I chased up quotes for new rigging on a 16 m cat and it was roughly the same as your asking price!

Is this price partly a consequence of the current financial circumstances brought about by COVID 19?

You’re making me think I should have asked more. LOL this is a firm price. I will not be haggling with anyone.

My theory is to just sell the boat with minimal hassle. So it was set at a good price. Nothing to do with any type of financial situation. Just converting this boat into the rigging for my Catamaran.

I certainly don’t need two boats around. One is enough. LOL

Really cool pic just taken of the boat!!

I'm working up a large document with much more detail about the boat. Should have the documentat finished tomorrow. Sorry I've been slow responding to everyone. Making sure I have a nice, complete document before I respond.

Re: 1985 Bluewater Gulfstar 50 Sailmaster Cutter - $79,000

Here is the link to MUCH more detail for those who are looking to purchase the boat:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1_w...qZgWoEFcV27P9u

Sorry that took me so long.

I'll be up in the area and able to show the boat over the last week of March and first week of April.

We will practice adequate social distancing during the showing and sales process. So no worries on that. The boat will be meticulously cleaned before showing as well.
