Combining 24v & 12v to Mppt

Hi I currently run 12 volts solar to my quality MPPT which charges my batteries at 12 volt, I just purchase a used 24 volt silent wind generator question is can I wire the silentwind directly to the MPPt or do I need to connect it to its own dedicated Mppt, appreciate any input .

You can connect a wind generator directly to a solar regular.

Solar regulators work by turning the panel off and on. With a wind generator when the load is disconnected the wind generator speeds up.

You need a dump load. A few sophisticated solar regulators will control a dump load, but the voltage difference in your case makes this impossible. If you have more than one solar panel you could wire two them in series, but it would be inefficient (the Vmp will be very different between solar and wind) and you would need a dump load. The solar regulator would need to be capable of controlling this.

The only practical way is a dedicated wind regulator for the silent wind.

It should have its own dedicated controller, if you connect it to an existing 12 volt solar controller it will reduce the percentage supplied by the solar cells by up to 100% when the wind is generating output.
