This is an extremely sturdy built Blue Water capable cruiser, that will take you anywhere on high seas. I am presently on the boat in Key West, FL.

This would be a perfect cruiser, blue water sailer, or live-a-board, though the live aboard would part be a waste of a very fine vessel. This boat deserves to be sailed...not docked and forgotten.

Specs on this vessel can be found at Saildata.com

Hello BlackOak! Sorry to see you putting your boat for sale! On a serious note, if you sell your boat, how are you ever going to get to Bermuda? Mauritz

Re: Wife Said SELL the boat!

She looks like a beauty, BlackOak. Selling a boat is supposed to be one of the happiest times in a sailor's life, but I don't see how you could feel that way about your Seafarer. I wish you the best of luck with the sale. If it were, me, I'd sell the wife instead. (Gawd, I hope my wife doesn't read this.)

Re: Wife Said SELL the boat!

Check your CF terms of membership. No one is allowed to sell their boat and leave the cruising life. I'm pretty sure that's ironclad.

We also all swear to help any member who seems in danger of accidentally selling their boat. All forms of restraint are allowed.

Re: Wife Said SELL the boat!

Reminds me of an ad I saw many years ago in the LA times:

Jaguar xk-120, 19xx model, etc, followed by Wife says it goes or she goes... 5000 bucks, take your pick.

Sorry to see you leaving us BO... or is the reason for selling to buy a bigger boat?

Cheers,

Jim

Unfortunate that you believe that live-aboards don't sail ... why is the boat for sale? "My wife said so" doesn't seem like something most sailors would go along with. I know that any partner who gave me an order like that, without some underlying sound reason, would be shown the door.

Or in my case, "fusigs" -- Stan, I'm going sailing!"

At the same time, there could be legitimate reasons for a spouse to say that. I know a couple who unfortunately are just past their prime, after open heart surgery for him and severe arthritis for her. They couldn't use their boat for a year, and just didn't find everything that had deteriorated in the year they didn't sail, tried to take a short cruise and all sorts of things failed. When you can't keep your boat up, it's time to sell it, but most people don't.

This is why I'm a fan of boat surveys (even though the one I got was badly done) -- lots of times, people hold on to their boats for emotional reasons and turn a blind eye to what's deteriorating.

I really don't mean to pick on the OP but the reason doesn't ring true to me.

There's a lot of live aboards who don't.. apart from holidays...
And if you need to find out problems the boat had... easy peasy... BO posted em all in his Thread... warts and all
Other reason could be... in Hurricane alley and safety costs money...

Now I know who cut his mooring lines and set his boat adrift a few months ago.

HIS WIFE!
