Re: Watchdog Plugin

Is there any reason why the official download version remains version 2.4.0 ?Windows version 2.4.6 works fine now for some time so I suggest to make 2.4.6 also available for other platforms and update https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/plugins/watchdog.html

Building Watchdog Plugin for Mac OS X

Hi... I have been struggling for a couple of weeks to learn how to build plugins for Mac OS X.

I have tried building Watchdog v2.4 for Mac OS 10.15 (Catalina) as the process is clearly documented here.

I got a large number of warnings (350) about render overlays and glDisable being deprecated since MacOS 10.14.

On plugin activation in OpenCPN v5, I got an error logged regarding a symbol not found and also an alert about plugin version 1.0 (?) being incompatible with OpenCPN.

Might I need to try with a later development version?

If whoever is maintaining Watchdog (Sean?) contacts me by PM, I will be happy to pass across details. Thanks.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Did Sean ever get a depth sounder working so he could add depth to watchdog?

Hello Tradewind,

The trick is to mouse-click in that "empty" window. I just updated the manual. Here is the link https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...afety:watchdog

Best regards,

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Thanks Roel, I noticed that too, and tried resetting the wiki back to use the dokuwiki template instead of the bootstrap3 template, which fixed it. Then I noticed that there was an update needed to bootstrap3 template, so I updated and reset the template back to bootstrap3 and it seems to be working now too.

bootstrap3 does some untypical things the way it is being programmed, and there is a lot of activity right now, if it acts up again, I am going to go back to dokuwiki template as this is a constant thrash.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Hi, in opencpn installed in raspberry via vnc, the "edit alarm" window for the boundary alarm didn't display all the options. I mean the button in the bottom of the windows of the boundary alarm edit isn't show, it seems that the windowbdidn't fit the screen and there isn't the possibility to scroll down to the button.
In your opinion it's a problem of vnc or can i have to configure some option in watchdog? Click image for larger version

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Discovered what I thought was a bug in OpenCPN. After running for an undetermined amount of time, a line from the equator would begin appearing. This has happened in every version of O I've used, including the new 5.1.8 beta. I reported it over there and some one suggested I turn off my Dashboard. Most felt it was an errant "Track" line (which it wasn't). I turned off Dashboard and nothing happened. I turned off all my plugins and it went away. I was able to narrow it down to Watchdog as the offending line creator. Haven't worked out why it does it yet, but it pops in when it loads up. See the image below. This line is from 0N, 0W.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Can you narrow it down to which alarm in the watchdog is causing this?

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Sean's question is good.
Can you list which alarms you created?
Then turn off all and then sequentially each one on to identify the culprit?

Re: Watchdog Plugin

Ok that's helpful. Do you know what the Landfall settings were by any chance?
Can you turn it back on and see if it happens again?
Thanks.

Re: Watchdog Plugin

"Normal" Landfall settings, i.e. "GPS fis is > than 3.0000"

Nothing out of the ordinary. However, I can't make it do it again. I'll leave it active. In a few days, I'll sail outside the 3 mile limit and return again and see if it triggers the error.

If I remember, I'll record a VDR file, so if it happens, we'll have a data track that can make it happen again.

Just need the time off and the right weather window...

Update: situation today
2.4.0 is still on the official download site
2.4.6 is what gets installed with the beta 5.1.xx, but not obvious as only "2.4" is displayed

Maybe changing version to 2.5 would be the way to avoid confusion.

Thanks for this report. It's very helpful. Yes, please keep an eye on it and report if there is a problem.
