Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate 3.3.2430 Released

I built 3.3.2430 from git. Now the arrow keys do not pan the chart on my Windows Vista system unless I run in portable (-p) mode. The green arrows will pan the chart. Is there some new UI setting I may have got messed up? Or is it a case of old .ini file from 3.2.2 causing problems?

P.S. I installed 3.3.2430 from the OpenCPN web site in parallel and it does the same thing (arrow keys don't pan).

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate 3.3.2430 Released

transmitterdan...

Welcome aboard.

Which "arrow" keys exactly, please.
External KB or laptop KB?
Does it work on 3.3.2410?

Works fine for me, but we have had recent trouble with keyboards.
First time we have heard this report.

Cannot figure out any connection to -p portable mode....

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate 3.3.2430 Released

All four arrow keys on the laptop KB do not pan the chart.

I never tried 2410. Is it a branch within the github archive? If so I can download and build it. Or is there a .exe somewhere I can get?

RGLeason...

I have not been following your work very closely...

Have you got changes ready for the embedded OCPN documentation?
If you submit as a pull request we can get them into the next Release Candidate.

Soon now...

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate 3.3.2430 Released

transmitterdan...

If you are building in vs2010 from source, you can try some breakpoint debugging to see what's going on. Learn something, too.

Try a breakpoint in chcanv.cpp, around line 2071...

Also, if you cloned the git repo, you can checkout V 3.3.2410, rebuild, and try that.

Code:
$git checkout 792e7202cfb181c4b0e89b7332697d180359405f
will get you 3.3.2410

Good Luck
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate 3.3.2430 Released

Dave,

Arrow keys on typewriter keyboard on my Win 8.1 notebook scroll chart and work in Options. Arrow keys in numeric pad share 8,4,6,2 keys. These don't scroll chart, but they do work in Options. I tried versions 3.3.2430, 3.3.2410 an 3.2.2, and all work/fail the same. NumLock (on, off) switches between numbers and arrows with Home, PgUp, PgDn, End.

I had not tried to scroll using the numeric pad before.

Say it this way:
1.Keyboard, Menubar, and Toolbar zooms always zoom to center screen. Always.
2.Wheel zoom behaviour changes depending on ZTC and SmoothZoom settings.

Or another way:
ZTC applies only to wheel zooms.

In O4.2 we will change the Options message to make this clear.

Thanks
Dave
Dave,

For your item 1 above: It is suggested that these zooms should always zoom centered on own ship. This should apply when the display has the own ship in the center of the screen, or when it is being displayed offset in look ahead mode.

BTW: I use the wheel-mouse in ZTC mode 100% of the time. I haven't found the need to use any other way to zoom. But I am sure that that is just me.

Thanks,

Paul

Hello Thomas,

Just an information.

The short cut "F6" run Ok on my ASUS PC EeePC, with OpenGL On or Off.

Information not good here : Keyboard Shortcuts | Official OpenCPN Homepage.

Best regards, Gilletarom

Gilletarom, Thomas,

The update has been made for Windows

Can someone validate it for Linux, for OSX ?

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate 3.3.2430 Released

In Linux Ubuntu 12.04 the F6 key is recognized so that the black square box counting from "MIN - 1 -2 -...... -9 - MAX" is working but there is no effect on the screen. Could there be any not installed function in my Ubuntu? I may check my "xcalib" status?

Rick...

perhaps "Direct range" (as non-offsetted range) instead of "Normal range"?

In case A you might draw the boat having passed the WP02 where The Actual Range will increase as this is the point to turn.
From the drawing one would fear that already entering the WP arrival circuit will trigger the turn, running over the hazard....

And I would recommend to use metric dimensions as the (great) majority of the users are not from the "imperial" world - and the latter are used to both types of dimensions.

Well, well.... One only has to use our excellent wik!, thanks for the nice work to this!

Installing xcalib was the solution. Now F6 is fully working also in Ubuntu.
