OpenCPN on Surface Pro 9, looking for Android Bluetooth GPS

Hi all! I have a new Surface Pro 9, want to set up OpenCPN on it. The only catch is it doesn't have a GPS. I know I could get a cheap USB GPS mouse, but I worry about reliability since I'll have to use a USB A-to-C dongle (SP9 is USB-C only & I haven't seen any usbc GPS dongles) and I'd rather not have anything sticking out the side so it'll fit into a waterproof bag.

I've seen the Garmin BT USBs, but they're a bit expensive -- this isn't going to be my primary chartplotter, I just want to have something with a big beautiful screen. I'd be happy repurposing an old Android phone, so I went to look up how to do that. I see a bunch of old unsupported apps (Meowbox and one or two others) that say they're not available on my Android phone (running recent Android 13). I could sideload them and try, or dig out one of my ancient phones, but thought I'd ask first here if anyone knows of a newer Android GPS->BT app.

There are several Android apps that can transmit GPS NMEA data over TCP or UDP. NetGPS and Share GPS are two I have been using. Can be used if you connect the devices over WiFi in case you do not insist on Bluetooth.

I use my Android phone as GNSS backup with "GPS Bluetooth output" app. and also with a Surface Pro X tablet and with any computer with BT capable.

is very cheap and works fine.

Thanks all! I was able to wipe an old-ish phone (Android 6.0) and sideload Meowsbox GPS Output (https://www.meowsbox.com/en/btgps_licensing). Looking forward to getting on the water!
