The only accredited dealer Fugawi recommended was a company in Sweden and they were not allowed to do this type of conversion either.

I have used both Fugawi Marine ENC,Sea Clear and Shipplotter who all have their own conversion formats which are not compatible with anything else, and absolutely not the C-Map format.

I asked Dave some time ago whether there was a possibility in the future, making OpenCPN also compatible with scanned raster charts.
Has anyone tried SeaClear? This was used to geolocate the Roques Is. in Venezuela years ago.

Re: OpenCPN General

Years ago before OpenCPN i used Oziexplorer and there's support to make chart files from scanned pictures. The map2kap program can then convert to a format suitable for OCPN.

I've used for long time and still using SeaClearII, I have a scanned charts of my area (North Spain) that I'm using in one of my computers.

It really easy to use but there is no compatibility with another software for such charts.

with the scanned charts you have to geo-locate at least four points and you'll get the raster chart calibrated. The feature included in the installation es MapCalII.

Re: OpenCPN General

Not so long ago I converted the SeaClearII charts into kap files with calibration, I guess it was with program that Hakan says.
and I was able to load my charts into OCPN on a RasPi4.

I used the steps of the attachment, remove ".pdf" is a simple txt file, and I did it in Windows
Attached Files
File Type: pdf Pasos de conversion.txt.pdf (6.3 KB, 16 views)

Re: OpenCPN General

Numbering the OpenCPN new version day after day:-
from 5.8.2 to 5.8.3 to 5.9.0 to back to 5.8.3 and now 5.8.4
What a way to have continuity!
Many thanks for the update, anyway.

P_Dub..
What I noticed is the official released update version 5.8.x

Version 5.9.x is when any home brewer builds from Git master code, also called the "sandbox", preparing for official version 5.10.x. It can also be a test version for individuals willing to test new code patches also build from the sandbox but by Cloudsmith.

All were coming from Cloudsmith over a period of time.

Re: OpenCPN General

The cloudsmith repository you keep using aggregates builds from all the branches. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, it contains exactly what it should and there is absolutely no problem with the versioning of the packages (and version numbers in each respective branch keep only increasing, never decreasing).
You simply need to finally understand that the latest build by timestamp may come from any branch. If you want packages from the master branch, packages with 5.8 version are of absolutely no interest for you. Contrary, if you want packages from the 5.8 branch, packages with 5.9 version are of absolutely no interest for you.

Re: OpenCPN General

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can help me here.
I paid for and downloaded charts in 2020. I didn't get allot of use from them.
To be honest, they don't currently work. So I've paid for and am trying again today.
I'm using a Samsung tablet.
I don't recognise the plugin instructions, it's frustrating the hell out of me.
In plain English..
Do I need to download the latest Opencpn version inorder to download my Charts?
If so, which download do I need to select to run on my Samsung tablet?
Regards Jeff

Are you using the paid Dave Register version of Android OpenCPN? (The free "Maison Auto..." version is old and not updated.)

If yes , make sure it and o-charts plugin are up-to-date.

Works great with O-charts for me.

Re: OpenCPN General

I'm not sure which version I'm using.
I did try to download the later version but am not sure which is the correct version for my Android operating system.
