Not all plugins work, though. So far I've successfully installed KonniLogbook, OTCurrents, oeRNC & oeSENC. The rest (Climatology, Polars, WeatherFax, Squiddio, etc.) say they install, but don't load (just display the "puzzle" icon and don't show up in the menu bar after clicking "OK" out of plugin manager). WeatherRouting, Tactics, and OPenDraw don't even show up in PI Manager as installable options.

I had removed the old app and OpenCPN folder in "Application Support" and in "Preferences". Was there something else I should have removed?

SCarns perhaps we can solve these problems together. What can I do to help? How can we effectively work on these issues?

Since many of these plugins have similar structure, perhaps the solutions are the same.


If you could post a more detailed "Issue" in each plugin repository describing what happens with what actions and screenshots where appropriate, perhaps we can figure this out.

Weather_routing has two versions for MacOS
Tactics has 2 MacOS versions in Cloudsmith
Ocpn_draw has 2 MacOS versions

Please describe the process more precisely so we can understand.

1. Don't know why the icons are puzzles, these work in other OS.
2. I assume you have updated the master catalog and there is a confirmation message.
3. When you click on a plugin in the list you are shown a button to upgrade or reinstall?
2. When you click on that button you are given a plugin version to install (or a choice).
3. Once installed there is a message confirming installation.
4. Then, what happens to the plugin list icon?
5. When the plugin is then "Enabled" what happens?
6. Is there is a toolbar icon added when you Close the Options> PIM?
7. When you click on the Toolbar Icon (if there is one) what happens?

I don't have MacOS to test those PI. We rely on others to test and advise.

We did have this problem with other plugins, using Windows, and those have been fixed.

Regarding plugins that don't work in various OS, I may have to simply remove them from the master catalog until there is a PR made by someone using that OS, that fixes the plugin for that OS. As a matter of practicality due to the number of plugins and situation, I may have to do that. Please report failures in detail using the github plugin repositories "Issues"

I confirm the error in MBTiles quilted with oeSENC charts. Somewhat surprising that this error has not appeared sooner. I myself had not tried this particular combination before.
Anyway, corrected now, see the attached pix.

One other issue:

I get the below every time the program runs, even though permissions are already granted.

This one pops-up the first time an oeSENC cell is touched after start of OpenCPN. macOS. Not new and have been seen since quite a time.

I just try to make a routing the same way I always did, with same parameters.
I tested back with all the betas 1118, 1114 and 1109 : same issue.
Plugin stops immediatly OCPN.

The popup regarding screen recording permission is a strange beast. Here is what I know:


1. OpenCPN DOES NOT record screens. Ever.

2. Popup appeared first on Catalina
3. Lots of apps claiming not to record screens have this same popup occurring. google to see....

4. In my experience, it is somewhat random. Mostly does not happen, but sometimes...
5. Apple is very vague in documenting this, and many other, privacy related security settings. Understandable, I guess. General user consensus is that the popup is triggered when an app contains, or links to, or uses, the MacOS Color Picker widget. Unverified by any Apple docs.

6. We use that widget to set colors in the Settings dialog, for e.g. waypoint range ring colors.


It may be possible to control this permission for OpenCPN in the MacOS settings->Privacy control. I have tried that, and again, the results seem random.


So, I chalk this up to another MacOS security "feature", triggering false positive.

I was installing from scratch, so no upgrade options. I obviously had to update the master catalog to see what was available. Once installed, those plugins wouldn’t be at the top of the plugin list, but at the bottom of the ones already installed. When “enabled” nothing happened and none of the plugins would have an active preferences button to be able to configure the preferences.
