OpenCPN 5.8.2 create grib file imposible
Hello gentlemen,
When I want to create a grib file on OpenCPN V5.8.2, it crashes and closes as soon as I click on the "@" button.
Any idea to unlock it ?
Xubuntu 20.04 up to date. No problem to use it and read maps and basic functions.
Just in case, I enclose the Terminal feedback :

Re: OpenCPN 5.8.2 create grib file imposible
Ocpn does not create grib files!
The grib file allows specifying requests for grib files sent via email.
Read the manuals.

Yes, I misspoke, but when I click on the "@" icon, I'm requesting a grib file via email, right?
Of course, I went to the French help site Shoreline.fr before coming here to annoy you.
And I'm used to following the sacrosanct letters of the RTFM anagram to the letter, I've worked in maintenance all my life...
You're answering the wrong way and didn't see the "@".
On the other hand, being French, I sometimes find it hard to explain my little worries properly. That's why I used DeepL Translator to answer you, hoping to be better understood and not be thrown out...
Nevertheless, OpenCPN crashes as soon as I click on @.
If I click on "Settings", the cogwheel in the Grib file window, nothing happens and a message on a yellow background tells me: "no valid grib file".
Thanks for reading.

Re: OpenCPN 5.8.2 create grib file imposible
Hi Phil_Fr17,
same problem with raspbian since update to opencpn 5.8.2
I confirm I could perfectely open some grib file downloaded for exemple here:
https://marine.meteoconsult.fr/servi.../fichiers-grib
It worked great, but completely crashes at the moment as soon as I click on the grib icon.
(The answer from rgleason is completely off and non relevant)
Very interested by info to fix this bug.
Même problème sur un Raspbian depuis que j'ai mis à jour opencpn depuis 5.2 à 5.8.
Aucun problème auparavant pour ouvrir un grib au préalablement téléchargé par ex ici:
https://marine.meteoconsult.fr/servi.../fichiers-grib
(la réponse de rgleason est à la fois impolie et à côté de la plaque)

Re: OpenCPN 5.8.2 create grib file imposible
"Opening' a grib file is very different from "creating" one.

Re: OpenCPN 5.8.2 create grib file imposible
For info.
On RPi400 Raspbian/Debian Bullseye.
OCPN 5.8.4.
I tested to fetch a grib file using the @ icon in the grib plugin.
No problem except there was no mail program installed. No O crash just of course no mail request created.
I installed Thunderbird and tested again. Now the mail request to Saildocs was nicely created.
