I see this message only once. Radar plugin was working in Raspex (Ubuntu Cosmic) and in Raspian I see this message only once.

The plugin seems to work also in Raspian. Appears normal.

However, I don't have a radar here to test the plugin.

@Andreas29: have you asked this question to Simrad support? - and what was their reply.

They are usually very helpful.

I'am using also OpenPlotter with the latest kernel version and updates.

The Radar plugin needs OpenGL. Can be switched on with VC4 module.

Raspi-config > advanced > OpenGL. In OpenCPN switch OpenGL on.

Raspex is also working on another RPI 3B +. (has 64 bits kernel V8)

If you look at the image of Hakan, you can see it is working on Raspex.

Bram

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

I've been happily using this great plugin on my Macbook. I've recently got hold of a windows machine and have installed OpenCPN 4.8.8 and version 3 of the radar plugin. Unfortunately on the windows machine the radar display box remains a blank grey square.

Are you 100% sure you enabled OpenGL? If so is it using one of those crappy old generation GMA chipsets?

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

Ah I noticed that I can't close the information window.

The one that displays the radar type, ip address, statistics etc.. When I close it, it just pops back up in the centre of the screen. If I move way off to the side it will eventually pop up back in the centre of the screen when I use the radar menu.

That means that one of the conditions for operation is not satisfied. No OpenGL/no heading/no GPS.

miked..
While the plugin is scanning for a radar connection and the settings menu window is open the info windows is shown until a connection has been established and the radar transmit can be started.

Edit: Ooops, two at the same time :-)

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

OpenGL is there, Boat position is there, but true heading isn't. Instead Variation WMM 0.2 is checked.

Odd as it is on OpenCPN on the macbook can clearly see the true heading, and I don't have a problem. Both the macbook and the windows machine get data from the same source.

But the rdar is working and the radar overlay still gets displayed.

Perhaps enabling COG as heading will fix it.

Re: Navico radar plugin v3.0 released

miked.....
A variation from WMM that's creating a HDT from HDG is good enough. That's how I run radar_pi.
I'm on Windows and for the case you describe the info window can be closed and shown again by menu->view->info.

Unless you don't have some occasional interrupt of any needed condition I don't know.

Could you attache a screen shot of the info window?
