Re: MacOS PIM Plugins Testing

Steve, since you are a half a world away from your treasured Mac, perhaps I can help. What is the template that you used for Engine Dashboard? Perhaps I can clone it and try to update it, when you get back you can then take it back (please)!

We have tested the three plug-ins under W10 and W11 ok, and there are not that few user running the latest managed plug-ins under Windows.

Rick,

I loaded oeRNC last night on my old MacBook Pro running Catalina and it seems to work just fine. I don't currently have any charts to install, so I didn't go very far with it, but have no suspicions currently that it is inoperable in any way.

I see in the PIM list the following plugins which installed all correctly. I also tried them quickly and, for those that I can (example S63, autopilot I cannot test them further) I can say that they work:

WeatherFax
PyPilot
Polar
OTCureren
Logbook
Statusbar
ShipDriver
Watchdog
Testplugin
OCPN Draw
DR
Calculator
WeatherRouting
WMM
Dashboard
Grib

Climatology
oeSENC
oeRNC
S63

Re: MacOS PIM Plugins Testing

I believe amajori is using the darwin-wx315 version and that is is list we are working on right now. I assume the other version of darwin is tagging along in similar fashion.

Re: MacOS PIM Plugins Testing

Apologies to all,

A case of the blind leading the blind !

The Engine Dashboard plugin was following the correct build process, copied from Jon's Testplugin, and at the same time, inheriting any errors that may have been present !

Performing the following command on a local repo of the Testplugin
Code:
git show 24a775b58b9dd562955ba15f1abd57af7f16cafa
illustrates the problem in the circleci-build-macos.sh script:
Code:
-if [ -n "$WXVERSION" ] && [ "$WXVERSION" eq "315" ]; then
+if [ -n "$WXVERSION" ] && [ "$WXVERSION" -eq "315" ]; then
The last release of the Engine Dashboard, v1.40 was released before Jon fixed the MacOS error.

The result of that error would be that the MacOS version of the Engine Dashboard that should have been compiled against wxWidgets 3.1.5 was actually compiled against 3.1.2. Should be a simple fix, however possibly a pita getting one cloudsmith upload and the catalog updated.

However I would still like to understand why the new OpenCPN release causes ABI problems. I thought the ABI was much lower in the stack, eg. at compiler & linker level, and a change from one version of wxWidgets to another, assuming the correct dylib versions are installed and they were created with the same compiler (or at least the same compiler ABI definitions) wouldn't result in any unresolved symbols.

Re: MacOS PIM Plugins Testing

Ok Steve, do you want me to fix it? It is pretty simple since you are using jons TP template.
