I saw the sticky about evaluating
batteries but I was wondering if any of the devices
sold for testing would be helpful as a simpler alternative. There seem to be lots of 100amp testers selling for about $40. Are these helpful for house
batteries? I've seen them used before to test
marine batteries but their directions say that the load has to be equal to half of the CCA on the
battery which is usually more than 100. Does anyone have experience with the Schumacher Speed Conductance tester which sells for $72?
Generic System Error Test JSP (Item) This one claims to test without putting a load on the
battery and handles a wide range of CCAs.
