Lost OpenGL on Win10 PC?

Hi,

on our Navigation Laptop OpenGL is gone all over a sudden.
It was running flawless for many months. I used MBtiles often and I used to see the Radar overlay without a problem.

The last thing I did before (and this might not be related) was putting it into course up mode when radar was on.
Suddenly no more radar image and no more MBtiles and a greyed out OpenGL tick box.

We have a second similar computer with identical setup and OpenGL is working fine with it.

The backup one (Let's call it B-PC) has OpenGL switched on, the normally used PC (Let's call it A-PC) has the option to switch it on now greyed out on OpenCPN.

Both are:
Dell Latitude E7240
Both run OpenCPN 5.8.4-0
Both run
Windows 10 Pro 22H2
19045.3516
Graphics driver:
Intel HD Graphics Family
20.19.15.5063
29.10.2018

I tried reinstalling OpenCPN on the faulty machine (without killing the configuration file). No change.
I also deinstalled the Graphics Driver and reinstalled it. No change.

Any ideas how I can get OpenGL working again?

Thanks.

Re: Lost OpenGL on Win10 PC?

Ok in case anyone has the same issue ever, here is the remedy.

I went manually in the OpenCPN configure file (link is in the About Splash screen).
Searched for OpenGL and switched OpenGL back on and Disable OpenGL off again. Than saved the file.

It's working again. No idea why it did get switched off.

Have you tried copying the opencpn.ini file from the working PC to the problem PC?
Also, check the graphics driver version on the working PC. It is possible that the problem PC unexpectedly updated. Make sure that when you reinstall it you are installing the same version as the working PC.
Lastly, many of the Latitudes had a dual graphics configuration, with BOTH and intel graphics chip, and also either AMD or Nvidia as well. In theory, they are supposed to work together. In practice some graphics apps choke. If you can determine if this is the configuration you have, it isn't difficult to disable the intel half and only use the AMD or Nvidia. Its done in the system bios.

Re: Lost OpenGL on Win10 PC?

Thanks as just answered by myself above your kind reply, I got it fixed by manually going into the configuration file.
