Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN
Hi Peter,
I just merged your pull request. Can you test again the MacOS build direct from the repo please?

Del and others
New page added for the purpose of a Logbook Konni instruction page.

Del needs a couple of volunteers...as he's going to be pretty busy for awhile I think.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN
Del,
I rebuild with a clean clone from the repository.
Created a working package for OSX.
Is there a place where we could put it so other people can test it on different OSX versions? I have only Mavericks running.
Btw in the OSX package the languages are already present, so they shouldn't be installed in the preference window as they could be old.
I don't think the zip files are rebuild.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN
Hi Peter,
Is it possible for you to push your instructions to git about making an OSX package? Perhaps as a PR to the README.md file? Either that or include it in the build/cmake mechanism somehow. I will put out a call for testers on OSX.
I'm not sure about where to host the file -- perhaps as a github release?

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN
I build the OSX package and created the release part in Github.
There I also put the zip files.
Download and test it if you would.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN
Hi Peter,
Good work, got your README update. Can you put your compiled packaged version somewhere and I will fetch it and upload it to git as part of the next release? Perhaps on dropbox?

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN
Belay that, I'll just grab the release files from your git repo. Thanks.

Del,
The files from the latest git are at the link of my previous post.
You can pick them up from there.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN
Del,
Will you also be the new owner of the FindIt plugin?
It works together with the Logbook plugin.
I have an updated standalone version ready if you fork it.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN
Del, Peter & all...
First, many thanks for your efforts, I really appreciate you took this code over.
And now to the plugin release bureaucracy
Let me know before the release so we can keep the translations in sync (I sent a pull request with the current state earlier today)
I somehow became in charge of PlugIns | Official OpenCPN Homepage so whenever you are ready for a release, just ping me and if the code passes my extensive testing suite (= it builds on all supported platforms and I don't make it crash immediately), I will update the download page.
It does not matter where the packages will be hosted, your choice. For quite a few plugins we use opencpnplugins | SourceForge.net for convenience. No problem to give you upload access there, given you have a Sourceforge account.
I try to provide the packages for 32 and 64 bit X86 Linux, ARMHF (v7) Linux, 32 bit Windows (make sure to build against the right, oldest possible, opencpn.lib) and Mac (OS X 10.7+). I can do all these builds myself, but it is time consuming and not exactly fun, so the more you can do yourselves, the better.
Cheers
Pavel

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN
Guys...
We have a little showstopper here.
The language files installation is not needed anymore as they are installed with the plugin (I just sent a pull request removing it).
The layouts are now packaged with the plugin (installed to /usr/share/opencpn on Linux, Program Files/OpenCPN... on Windows, somewhere on a Mac, I hope), the logic looking for the files has to be adjusted. The question is: How? I like the option to look for custom templates in the user's data dir, so probably load from both locations? Or remove the layouts from the package and let the user install them manually? Easy but needs manual work...
I personally would eliminate the uninstall option in the preferences dialog, what do you think?

I haven't looked at the code for FindIt. I tried using it on board my boat once and I couldn't get it to work. I might take a look once I have Logbook under control.

Hi Pavel,
Hosting all of the plugins together would be a good idea.
I can probably do the Linux builds. RPM and DEB would be best but if you or someone else can do the Windows and Mac builds that would be good.
I can put my packages on dropbox and you can take them to sourceforge from there or give me access, either way works for me. I have a sourceforge account, I haven't used it in ages but I'll log in now to see where it's at.

I would vote to remove the layouts from the package and let the user install them. I have edited my layouts quite extensively aboard Chiara Stella and I can see myself creating custom layouts and distributing those to other Logbook users.
Yes, remove the uninstall from the preferences dialog.
