How to change user interface colors

I searched the forum and manuals and couldn't find the answer, hence this thread.

How do I change the user interface colors? Is it possible? I'm not talking about selecting one of the 4 color schemes, but changing the color of certain elements like the hard to read yellow box for current speed in the attached picture.

Extra info, Im running opencpn on linux, v5.8.4+8089+1637c28fb~ubuntu20.04.1

Thanks

Re: How to change user interface colors

The font color of the rollover is the TideCurrentGraphRollover item in the User Interface settings. The related bug that makes you ask is already fixed in the current codebase.

Hi Nohal, thank you for that. A lot easier to read now after I changed the font to a darker color.

Is there anywhere in the developer documentation or in the source code in github a description of what each of the UI setting items means? Same for color scheme definitions?

Thanks

Re: How to change user interface colors

@flpaoli
That is in our manual already:

https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do..._dropdown_list

This search (bottom link) gets you there.

Using AI Copilot: "OpenCPN user manual basic Tide yellow background font color"

..If you need to change the font color for better visibility or preference, you can do so in the User Interface options under the “Fonts” section. Here, you’ll find settings for various text elements, including the “TideCurrentGraphRollover,” which is the font size for the tide and current text with a yellow background2. For more detailed instructions on adjusting the font color, you can refer to the OpenCPN Manuals12. And it has a link to the manual
