Help with setup - GPS BU353W10 on OpenCPN
I am trying to connect the above puck antenna to my OpenCPN system.
The pc is HP Omen17 Laptop, running windows 10.
In the setup section of OpenCPN I was sent to download "Prolific" driver:
1. Download the latest driver from Prolific - http://www.usglobalsat.com/s-24-support-drivers.aspx#A
This linc is disconnected.
Can anyone direct me to the proper link?
I have tried to locate it myself. I have found on this page:
https://www.globalsat.com.tw/style/f...&name_id=10593
driver named:
BU-353S4 Windows USB Driver / English / 2019-10-29
Is this the correct one?

I worked.
Strange as I have original new puck antenna (not Chinese) and it did not work with the newest Prolific drivers from manufacturers site(that I did found eventually).
But - it did work through the link provided.
Thanks again
Mark

OpenCPN/doc/getting_started/gps_setup.html
It is in the Manual
In the help section:
Getting Started
GPS Setup
An Example - Configuring BU-353
The link to <http://www.usglobalsat.com/s-24-support-drivers.aspx#A>
brings error 404
On the PDF manual for v4.8 it is on p.38 link #59

My usb-GPS, a Globalsat ND-100 also had the described problems. But the above solution worked beautifully and it is now fully operational.
Thank You !!!
Does this driver fix has to be repeated with every Windows-update?

Re: Help with setup - GPS BU353W10 on OpenCPN
I am not a specialist for Windows and I have once stored the above provided link because so many users have had problems with their GPS and Windows.
As far as I have read and being told by Windows users very often the Windows updates changes some drivers to other versions without notice. So it might be a good idea to check the driver after an update was done. It seems the driver problems with Windows is a never ending story never the less which Windows version.

The document that is packed with these drivers, states that it also makes a change to Windows registry in such a way as to not allow any drivers update without manual permission of the user. So may be it does solve the problem long range.
Fingers crossed...
