Re: Help / FAQ

Is there a way to disable AIS target names displaying beside each AIS target in the chart display? I realise you can switch off AIS targets on the Chart Panel Options, but I only want to switch off the text. It already displays the vessel text when you hover your mouse over a target, I prefer not to have the clutter of vessel names permanently displayed.

One other minor annoyance (you can tell I am an OpenCPN newbie, sorry). In My 2 screen setup, I have OpenCPN on screen 2 - is there a way that when you select target query or AIS target list, to make it open on the second display (or I should say - the same display that the app is running on? I nite that the target query menu option displays on the same screen - its just the AIS options that always display on screen 1. Thanks, Paul

Re: Help / FAQ

Toolbox -> Ships -> AIS Targets -> Show names with AIS targets ...

To the other question, it depends, for example on my Linux system with Gnome the window is opened where it last was, by default on the same display where the main window is. On macOS, the system always forces newly opened dialog windows to the primary display. I will try to put some effort into this for the next release, but can't anticipate with how much success....

Re: Help / FAQ

You magically knew I was on a Mac - Many thanks for the reply

I also noted another (possibly mac specific) issue - even with the ENC Sounding factor set to -5 the depth font size is still rather large on the chart. Is there a way to select the specific font size? Thanks

Re: Help / FAQ

As it seems your HW is too ancient to support OpenGL properly, disable it completely by setting DisableOpenGL=1 in the config file.
And then finally get that somewhat newer hardware, please.

Thanks. Tried that, as well as setting OpenGL=0 but getting same error. Any ideas?

Re: Help / FAQ

I have OpenCPN 5.8.4-0 on Windows 10, with USA S57 charts for Maine to the Keys. A couple of days ago the charts stopped displaying. OpenCPN shows only the base chart except it does show the S57 chart(s) for a roughly 20nm rectangle SW of Charleston.

I have tried "Scan charts and rebuild" and "Force full DB rebuild." I have tried using the chart downloader to download Region 6 charts with the above options. No joy.

Any suggestions before I uninstall/reinstall?

Re: Help / FAQ

A screen shot? Are you perhaps in single chart mode? The "q" short does toggle it to quilted mode...

Re: Help / FAQ

It seems to have been the quilting. I turned it on (back on?) and all is well. Thanks.

Re: Help / FAQ

On my phone with Android I have install Opencpn for a few years and install my own tidal data. Recently it can not be done anymore. Could you tell me if it is still possible and how to do it now?

Re: Help / FAQ

I tried on my A11 and it works fine.
Newer A's don't allow apps to use folder everywhere. Only those folders belonging to the app.
So I copied my Harmonics to:
./Android/data/org.opencpn.opencpn/files/Charts/Tides/HARMONIC.....
Then OCPN could find them if you Add it at Options->Charts->Tides&Currents.
Remember to add the H....IDX file(s) only.
You may need a more sophisticated file handler than the default. (I use ES Filefinder but there are more)
