Re: Feature Requests

Suggestions for a new plugin or an expansion of the Radar (Gradar) plugin.

As some of you know, Raymarine has just released a brand new solid state radar with both wired and wifi connection...

I would really like to see support for adding Raymarine Quantum radar overlay capabilities.

This radar is both cheap (cheaper than Navico/Simrad/Lowrance 4G radar) and performs extremely great.

I have not been able to look into what type of comms this radar use yet, but I will... And with the wifi part in place this should not be to difficult so snoop...

I would really like to see support for this radar.

Re: Feature Requests

Hide all waypoints.

This has been knocked around on here before, or in other threads, and most seem to agree that a feature that enables all marks to be hidden or shown would be useful. The conversations go back prior to 2014 I think.

I don't want to put my marks into layers as I want access to them for editing updating etc. but I do want to turn them all off at times, such as when zoomed out to plan or look at a GRIB file or something.

Anybody know if it's in the pipeline?

Re: Feature Requests

Why don't you put this feature request into tracker? Start the request with RM. Explain what you want. How this would wotk.

Just entered for you. Register and Sign into Tracker yourself and ask to get notices.
Also vote for it, the more votes a feature request has, the better.
FS#1948 : WP -Hide all waypoints

Just how do you propose that WP be turned on and off? Developers will not know what you are thinking....

By the way there is no record of a previous Tracker request, that I could find.

Re: Feature Requests

What about tack and gybe angle predictor? Same as the COG predictor but you can offset it to your tacking angle so you can better predict lay lines?

Apologies if this has been raised before but I couldn't search this thread

See thread BCN suggested.

Big Tom Speedy is working on a plugin for Sailing Optimization, based on instruments. It is not a full tactical program, but appears to be pretty good.
We have not heard from him lately.

Dave Cowled has made a TacknLay plugin which works for Linux but not Windows.

Weather_routing based on grib and cliimatology, for the bigger picture.

Polars or Polauto for developing boat polars.

3-d Seabed Mapping

With the advancement of depth soundings these days, not just depth but also the bed characteristics, could we start a plug-in project for 3-d reading/mapping of the seabed?
It seems to be the way a lot of the proprietary units are going, especially for the fishing industry...
For example, olex.no, maxsea...

My preference would be for a button/icon on the toolbar similar to the AIS one .

I'd also like option in the route/track/mark manager to be able to show or hide a set of selected waypoints. I.e. Select a group of waypoints and click in the eye column to show or hide them as a group.

Is see many uses for that such as being able to sort by marks with an anchorage symbol and turn them all off leaving only navigation hazards or vice versa, it would be very versatile.

Re: Feature Requests

I would like to have the possibility, in connection with the Rute and Mark manager, to make Passage planning for a couple of month using information about the different routes made in OpenCPN.

It could be made as a plugin

Included you find an example how it could be made.

Re: Feature Requests

Hello,

wouldn't it be a great feature if OpenCPN could access directly the tiles within the cache of SASPlanet?

Regards

Re: Feature Requests

I just gave SASPlanet a try.

wowww! Not only do they have several sources of different satellite images and seem faster than google earth.
They also have global coverage with detailed Navionics charts...

I doubt this uses legal sources... But its really cool anyway!
