Hi Dave,

it is now clear to me. But how is it possible that the opencpn.conf get damaged by the wrong "underlying" display instructions ?

Is there no way to protect the config from these damages ?

It took some time to find the solution. But for "Joe User" it is rather confusing.

I like the fast screen movements with OpenGL very much. A lot of progress has been made with the RPI software.

Regards,

Bram (upgrade junkie)

It now appears that there were memory leaks in the kernel versions 4.14.69 and 67.

The latest kernel is now 4.14.68 and everything works fine and fast with OpenGL on and no manual settings needed of the screen vertical.

Doing all the current updates is not always a good idea !

Regards,

Bram

However version 4.14.68 seems to have also a memory leak. After some time standing idle the system also locks-up.

Now back to kernel 4.14.62 and the system is running allready all day without problems and with OpenGL switched on.
