Data Lost

After the computer hang up, i mad the reboot and I lost:

- ALL the routes
- ALL the tracks.

How can I recover these data?

Is it a known problem?

Software version 4.2.0

On this PC (WIN8) is running, other than Opencpn: RMSExpress, Zygrib, VNC server.

Thanks

Re: Data Lost

track, route and other data is stored in the "navobj" file-- probably in your program data/opencpn data folder, which may be hidden. in that same folder are the back up files, as OC automatically creates backups. the most recent backup is titled "navobj.xml.1"

rename navobj (for backup purpopses), then rename navobj.xml.1 to navobj. then restart OC

if you are lucky your routes and tracks will be there.

cheers,

Re: Data Lost

There is still for sure a bug with lost tracks as I have experienced this frequently (while developing with unstable code frequently crashing while navigating)

The navobj.xml.changes file does not store the guid of the track for the trackpoints so they are simply discarded rather than applied... This causes me to always lose tracks when opencpn crashes, or if I shut down the computer without closing opencpn, so apparently the signal isn't handled either.

Re: Data Lost

It was mentioned above, but I'd try a system restore to the most recent time you had all the data.
