Chile ENCs at o-charts

The complete set of Chilean ENCs has been added to the portfolio and is now available at o-charts. Closing gaps...

That's really good to see, but there seems to be a glaring gap in coverage at Cape Horn; that can't be correct?

This is as it is - both Chile and Argentine lack some decent ENC coverage in that area.
To our surprise there is no ENC coverage for the Easter Island neither.

For the official listing of ENCs see here:

Interesting. I'm not surprised that Argentina doesn't have good data there as it is not their territory (only the north bank ) but I know that Chile has the data. I guess their priority has been in producing public ENCs for the main channels. Cape Horn is easy enough.

Hey.. back off.... I'm not having a go at you. As you know that area is embroiled in geo politics and there is still a fairly tense relationship between the two militaries. The Chileans have always been very cagey in that area and I suspect that is the real reason.

Perhaps Chile has raster charts (and/or paper charts) of the area?

Something similar as seen with Mexico and even here in Canada. A few places (very few) here in BC have older raster charts that CHS has not converted to ENC, so there is a blank in the official CHS/O-Chart ENC collection (for example: Englefield Bay, Haida Gwaii). CHS is doing surveys and eventually will produce new ENC charts (they just produced charts for several inlets in Haida Gwaii that on Raster charts were blank.)

Same for Mexico, in a few places: there are detailed raster charts for places like Turtle Bay (BCS), but not in the SEMAR/O-Charts ENC collection.
