Same result on XP Pro SP3. Can adjust widths, close, re-open, etc., and no issues.

Use the instructions in this post to compile from CVS (very latest code).

All works well on ubuntu 8.10 at this end, Dave says its a wxwidgets problem so it may only occur on specific platforms (but still be beyond our control).

Thanks idpnd,

I went to compile and got this:
Code:
src/chcanv.cpp:3018: error: cast from ‘void*’ to ‘int’ loses precision
make: *** [chcanv.o] Error 1
After googling, it seems that this is a common error when porting from 32-bit to 64-bit platforms.

fix:
Code:
Basically change the (int) to (long)

GPX/Garmin

jpiebrig...

Thanks for the detailed comments on GPX.

Do you have an example of a GPX route or track file which can successfully upload to Garmin using gpsbabel? This could be produced, for example, by another program. Especially wondering about the first routepoint.

I would like to compare opencpn GPX output with another, successful upload file.

Separate route and track files would be helpful.

Thanks
Dave

Dave,

I have done more tests and I realize that I had a problem with my FTDI USB/Serial converter. Once it was going in the GPS, and then it wasn't. So I change FTDI for a PROLIFIC PL2303 and all is OK.
So for all those who are using USB to serial converter, pay attention, they are not all good.

I have to Garmin GPS, 126 and 72. I was using 126. With this one, every time I am sending a GPX route, I have the same message that it has deleted the first waypoint. It really does it with Opencpn GPX file and the first waypoint is missing in the GPS's route, beginning at 2.
And with an other GPX file, not an Opencpn one, I have the same message, but it doesn't deleted anything and I have all my waypoints in the GPS's route.

This morning, I try the same thing with GARMIN 72 and I don't get any message and all the waypoints are in the GPS, no one are missing, no importance they are coming from an Opencpn GPX file or not.

I send you the GPX's file which is working with GARMIN 126 on your mail.

Build 929

All...

opencpn V1.3.3 Build 929 is available at the usual location.

Changelog:
93. Implement SEH/Signal fault handler for CM93 renderer.
94. Correct anchored ownship heading on skewed charts.
95. Correct/Remove some invalid Current Reporting Stations
96. Correct (some) loss of hotkeys when cm93 slider is shown.
97. Correct georeferencing for RNC's which span the Intl. Date Line
98. Update GPX output format to Version 1.1
---------Publish Beta 1.3.3 Build 929---------

This Beta is different in structure from previous versions.

It is a full Release, containing all the data files for tides/currents, ENC symbols, etc. It will, however, retain your current config settings and installed chart database.

If you have a small set of charts installed, and time on your hands, it would be a good test to uninstall all older versions of opencpn on your system, and run this new setup to validate the new-user experience.
You will in this case be guided through loading of charts....

Thanks, and good luck.

Dave, when do you sleep (smile)? Small point: I am running XP SP3 on 2 separate boxes with OpenCPN. On both this beta installs a desktop and start menu shortcut named OpenCPN 1.3.4. Also the install dialog shows the same identification label during the install. Otherwise the About or Help dialog shows OpenCPN 1.3.3 Build 929. Note that I did not uninstall previous versions, but simply installed the latest beta in the usual way, over the old installation.

94. Correct anchored ownship heading on skewed charts. OK
95. Correct/Remove some invalid Current Reporting Stations. OK with comments:
  • The current stations with orange squares, gray centers, no current arrows and empty graphs are fixed. Graph works, and current arrow is shown (tested with stations "Execution Rocks" and stations in C&D canal).
  • Like other programs, opencpn now suppresses stations which don't have directional data for the currents. Since a current strength information does exist in the data, I would prefer not to loose this information but rather show the strength of the current without an arrow but some other means. Once 1.3.4 is released I rewrite this as a feature request. As a quick fix, could a "hollow square" be shown, no arrow, and the right click brings up the graph?

New user experience, after a complete uninstall:

After install, a message comes up to select charts. This could be expanded to also point the user to set NMEA/AIS inputs.

One "bug": All AIS settings are zero, they should come up with some default values, I believe 1.3.2 had good default values.

I had exported all my routes, then re-imported them without a problem.

The columns in "Route Properties" don't show headings.

Route "Plan Speed" seems to be a global value, not stored with the route. With the new install, the "Plan Speed" was set to zero, which caused all values in the ETE column to show "START". I would prefer to store "Plan Speed" with the route and include this in the gpx export/import. A default "Plan Speed" in the configuration would be desirable then.

Works fine at this end..

Is this a full release as in compiled downloads on sf.net & full changelog since 1.32? A number of features have been added. Should have a press release to celebrate really..

Congratulations, Dave

Dave,

Complete re-install after removing old versions. No problems so far on Win 2K. In fact, much smoother install and responses in all ways, or so it seems. I love it!

Did Christmas come early this year?

Thanks!
