A20 OLinuXino MICRO Linux

I have a A20-OLinuXino-MICRO (Olimex) running Linux and I want to install opencpn.

Therefore I followed the manual:

Wheezy (7.0)
Add line saying "deb Index of /opencpn/opencpn/ubuntu oneiric main"
etc, etc , etc.

But installation stopped and a lot of text is generated and displayed.

Is it possible that this installation does not support the processor?

Or should I ask: what to do to start opencpn om my system.

Willy...
As I already replied to your other post, you can't install i386 packages on an ARM system. You can probably believe me - I'm building them and I wrote the instructions you followed.
You will have to build from source - Compiling - Linux | Official OpenCPN Homepage

Re: A20 OLinuXino MICRO Linux

Pavel,

Sorry I have been trying to be the wise guy. I did not understand your answer or thought you did not understand my question.

Now I do.

I have learned that Linux applications can be processor sensitive.
Hypothesis: Android is also processor sensitive.

Am I right? If not, I can wait until the Android version of opencpn is released (hanging in the air ??!?).
Otherwise going into the proces suggested by you: compiling.

Regards Willy

Willy...
There is no Android version hanging in the air - you will sure get a working OpenCPN on ARM Linux sooner than we even start thinking about producing something running natively on Android.

Pavel,

I will roll up my sleeves, lots of coffee and start compiling and final report to you that it is up and running, thanks.

Willy...

Take heart...

OpenCPN from github repo builds and runs fine on any reasonable ARMHF debian linux.

Good Luck

Re: A20 OLinuXino MICRO Linux

Its too early for a review. I have to do some optimisations and I will give you my experiences soon.
And I am planning to use the same charts as for my, ehum scratch scratch, windows version.
Openseamap and (free) dutch vector charts to be found at ENC - Fairway Information Services

First reaction: ENC kaarten nederland 2013 are functioning.

Re: A20 OLinuXino MICRO Linux

System (Linux and OpenCPN) is running fine and fast enough.
Nice navigational aid for 65 euro.

Configuration so far:
ais - rs232 interface
gps - rs 232 interface
Plans are to connect a cmps10 magnetic compass through I2C

The ais and gps are connected via rs232 to an arduino mega 2560 with an ethernet shield.

The shield is connected to a wireless router.

So the a20 and thus OpenCPN receives the data via the wireless router. And the display is a mini cartft of 7.5 inch. I am planning to buy the 15 inch LCD which is released end of the year.

As I said all systems work fine. Unfortunately sailing season is ending. But I can now use time to build the "boxes".

Dave/Pavel the only thing I did no get to work is the AIS plugin. Do I also have to compile this one?

Yes, you have to compile all the plugins as well to make them work on ARM
