Little-Used Boat

I found a cat sail 34' 2005 which is in really nice condition. Based on the comments it appears that it has been used only a few times. It's possible that this refers to a second owner who may have only owned it a year or less and used it very little, but it begs the question, what is the risk, if any, in buying a boat that has sat in the water but has been used very little?

Have it surveyed.

Re: Little-Used Boat

All boats need work! A good survey will hopefully tell you how much work it needs! If it's in the water, and still floating, that's always a good sign. Check under the floorboards, of course, for water in the bilges: lift them when you arrive, and check a few hours later. The head's bound to need a rebuild - there'll be barnacles in there somewhere.Gas lines will need checking, of course. But look, that's all stuff you'd have to do anyway!

It sounds to me like you could be getting a very good boat at a good price. Good luck, let us know what happens.
