Re: Free sailboat

Now that is a rough looking boat. Wonder if the winches are any good? After a few months in the water I'm not so sure about the engine. Maybe after a complete tear down and overhaul.

Re: Free sailboat

Sara...I was just going to say the same thing. No way in hell is this boat going to be free...it's not even close. In fact it probably has negative value meaning the owner will have to pay someone to take it away. He will be lucky to get nothing for this boat.

Re: Free sailboat

Oh come on. McGuyver would have that fixed up with a little duct tape and baling wire. It's a blue water cruiser. Always so negative.

It doesn't say whether there's a mast and boom...

I am looking at a well maintained $50k 35' and setting aside $10k for surprises. Free boat, I would set aside $100k and a few years.

I'm sure there is a pile of aluminum oxide somewhere that used to be the mast and boom.

Re: Free Sailboat

Methinks anyone picking this up will soon be opening a business called "PartsR-us".

Don't expect any warranty or returns.

I was thinking perhaps a curtain rail for the mast, and a mop handle for the boom. And there's an old set of net curtains we could use as sails.

Is that a winch I see? We could move that to the centre, and use it on both tacks. Which reminds me... sheets. I spose we could plait the strings from the mop together...

Better not be too mean, the new owner may be joining here soon and wondering if his boat is ''blue water ready...''

Re: Free Sailboat

If you google map that address in satellite mode you can see it partially submerged.
