Air Fryer Or Convetion Oven Or Combo

Just want to get an idea of what people are using and what they would recommend.

Seen a few out there that look good such as the following, but I know very little about it - Especially in regards to power usage and what size fryer is needed for a family of 4

We really like our cuisinart air fryer toaster oven. Favorite air fryer by far and it’s our convection oven.

Re: Air Fryer Or Convetion Oven Or Combo

Just be sure to look at the power draw on those air fryers. I don't know about all of them, but ours at home requires that we use nothing else on that kitchen circuit while it's running, and it runs a relatively long time to produce a relatively small amount of food. Obviously bigger ones have room too cook more at one time, but you still need air flow around every piece, limiting how much you can put in.

On the boat, the microwave and InstantPot both work fine off the inverter, and don't overly tax our 30A shore power connection or excessively draw down the house bank. We haven't really been able to justify bringing the air fryer.

We have using our small air fryer more than out oven. We hardly ever use the oven really. We do us our propane stovetop lots.

Some of them are very power hungry. but its hard to figure out actual consumption from just the stats as the element does not run for the full cook time, but kicks in and out.

We are using a Breville Smart Oven (has air fryer function) and it draws a maximum of 15 amps. Very happy with its oven/baking performance but have not used the air fryer function often.

We also have the Breville and it’s great. Convection oven, toaster, air fryer, dehydrator, dough proofing all in one unit

How about an alternative? Remoska, which only uses 580w, that's a third of a convection oven. So pleased with the one on the yacht we bought a second for use at home and now rarely use electric oven.

A convection oven is essentially a large air-fryer. And an air fryer is a small convection oven.

A convection oven will have the capacity to cook for your family of four and is much more versatile than an air fryer.

Re: Air Fryer Or Convetion Oven Or Combo

We have a Ninja and a Cosori Convection oven. Plus a built in 2 burner induction cook top and a portable induction cook top. The Ninja and Convection oven get used in the cockpit more than in the galley. Moves the heat outside. We do not have propane on the boat except for the little green bottles for our grill which is could pry remove since we rarely use it. The biggest use for the Convestion oven is baking bread. The Ninja does most of the meat cooking.

I'd never heard of the Remoska, thanks! Apparently it's not a big seller on this side of the pond. But it looks like a great appliance for the boat. Or even the house.

We have a combo mircowave/convection oven on both the boat and the RV. Great solution for us.

They have been around since the 1950s when if you lived in the former USSR this is what you used to do all your cooking with. They suddenly became very popular a couple of years ago as the price of electricity doubled overnight in Europe.

Also popular in the caravan and motorhome market which is were we saw one being used and therefore thought why couldn't it be used on a yacht? lets try one. Mrs 7 turned her nose up at it saying I don't want that on the boat. This is until I did a full chicken roast dinner as the first experiment. Then it became her best kitchen widget She did the whole of last years Christmas dinner in it, complete with pigs in blankets etc, to see if it could be done. Lots of swopping things about, but worked really well.

If this woman can cook a roast dinner in the back of a VW camper, we ought to be able to manage in a 31ft yacht surely. Oh and we did run the Remoska just off the lead acid batteries one night when I forgot to switch in the LFP batteries. It was only when I switched on the electric kettle that the inverter complained and the penny dropped.

The other option is the Sage model, looks identical to the Breville, depends on the power available. I watched Gone with the Wynns review electric cooking a while back which was quite interesting. Nikki drinks tea

Anyway is Christmas Day now in the UK and the sun will be up mid morning some time. We are doing roast pork for Christmas dinner as something different, in the Remoska.
