You're not doing anything wrong, it's just that qtVlm does not know how to deal with ftp protocol instead of expected http.

I'll try to fix that before the next release.

Phillipe, you could check out Tom Rauch's Tactics_pi. Nice plugin for O. Might give you some ideas. He seems to be handling the data well. Have not tested on boat but he is doing a race with it very soon.

In the mean time in qtVlm the easiest way to test laylines is to activate Simulation Mode (in boat menu) which emulates a real navigation environment based on gribs (winds and currents) and polar. It also receives AIS targets from internet (europ) if they are in a 30NM circle.

5.3.5 has been released this afternoon on all platforms (for iOS it will take a while due to Apple verification process)

Version 5.4.0 has been released yesterday on all platforms (windows/linux/macos/Android/iOS)

The main change concerns the raster chart module, much faster and precise, which can read many more formats (kap, geotiff, geojpeg, etc). The next step will focus on S57 maps.

Also:

Add CAPE data in route's log and in comparator,
Possibility to specify a maximum CAPE value in Weather Routing Module,
Possibility to compare actual boat's speed with polar speed,
Add a configurable minimum threshold for rain in routes comparator,
Columns can now be shown or hidden in routes comparator and log,
Start and arrivals points in routing are now persistent,
Improvements and fixes in Instruments module,
Add an option to extend last grib date for Currents gribs (useful for those gribs with only one date like OSCAR),
And many big and small other improvements.

English documentation has been updated too.

... trying to install on a MAC with macOS Sierra Version 10.12 (16A323) ...

Get the error in the attachment. Not sure why 'writing should fail', not a Mac OS buff though ;-) ...

Well, it'a problem with Sierra, we are investigating this to see what are our options. Basically the problem comes because Sierra wants a signed archive, and our archive is not signed. It is not clear yet if we can circumvent this at not costs.

In the mean time, you can follow these steps to make it work:

-In finder, create a new folder for instance "qtVlm" or whatever you want
-Copy all the files from the qtvlm_os-x_5.4.0 folder EXCEPT the app (the file with the qtvlm icon) into the new folder
-ONLY THEN copy the qtvlm app to the new folder

run qtVlm from that folder and all should be ok.

Please tell me if all is good.
