Best quality chain

Looking to buy 200’ of 5/16” chain. I hear horror stories all the time of people buying chain that only will last a year or two. Can someone point me in the right direction of where to look for a quality chain that will last years

Re: Best quality chain

We had got great use out of our titan chain. Bought it in 2013 and are just now replacing it. Sailed 13000 miles of coastline with it, probably 1500 nights on it. Could not source it on the east coast for the price I liked so I went with Maggi chain. Got it for 3.50 ft and picked it up In Warwick RI. Have yet to offload the original chain and swap to the new so we currently have 600' of chain in our locker. We have two personal friends who bought a acco chain and it has more rust than our 8 year old titan chain within 20 months.

Re: Best quality chain

Acco chain on one of our boats is now about 15 years old and still going strong. We replaced the badly rusted chain on our second boat with Titan 5/16 G43 just over 2 years ago. It seems to be holding up well but during the past two years the boat has only been at anchor for weekends and the odd 7 to 10 day period. Not a rigorous test of longevity.

I initially declined the Titan chain but the supplier vouched for it and so far I have no reason to complain.

Re: Best quality chain

My 5/16", two 250' rodes, from E-Rigging is going strong after eleven years. It's ISO G-40, the standard you need to meet. I did go astray by buying some supposedly G40 Chinese chain from a dealer in Miami - it didn't quite fit our windlass.
