The Animated Knots hitch is unseamanlike: a half-dozen wraps is no substitute for a proper cleat hitch, which if you look closely, is essentially a clove hitch built around the horns. I have been cleat hitching like this for over 20 years at sea and never had a jam.
As far as a whole wrap VS most of a turn, a lot depends on the lead from the line--that's why properly installed cleats are always angled so the line meets them at neither 0 nor 90 degrees (I like something like 20).
