Re: Climbing a Mast

Billy....my boat is still in the design phase and even further from being built. Must fix that in my profile....I put it in the name slot but it doesn't show up on posts. I'll gladly get in touch but other than share my research up to this point I won't be much help to you. Before I get salt-wet in a steel hull I'll be limited to lake sailing, and initially with a dipping lug yawl. Got some mast building to do first, that's the most accessible work at the moment.

Someone you should certainly look up on CF are bobbie & connie (one account, two people); they circumnavigated in a Colvin Gazelle with the Junk rig, tons of valuable experience.

If you go to the boatdesign.net forum you should look up the user called "Bataan", he has a Junk-rigged wooden Spray called "Bertie" (original lines, or at least not a dodgy copy) and also heaps of experience.

Finally, it's worth looking up Roger Taylor and his Junk-rigged Corribee "Ming-Ming", SimpleSailor is his page and he also has lots of neat videos on youtube. He's been around and done it all too, great brains to pick.
