Shaft shaft

Has anyone used the shaft shark line cutter? I started to install one but found my propeller shaft is tapered before the prop. I can't seem to find a way to attach the shark on a tapered shaft. If I go or ward it is not then against the hub which the instructions say is required. Additionally, it would then be within an inch of the cutlass. Any thoughts?
