Needed, Cal 29 prop and strut

I recently purchased a Cal 29 but the strut and prop were totally corroded, does anyone know of a possible source for these items, the vessel is a 1970

Re: Needed, Cal 29 prop and strut

I owned a Cal 2-30 with an Atomic 4 engine. The prop was a Martec 2 blade folding. It worked well but was a little tricky when you went to reverse. I would expect that you should not have too much difficulty finding and acceptable solution.
BTW that is a great boat having sailed offshore to Mexico in one as a crew. That year it was a beat all the way and we ran with a short reef and a 150 Genny.
Good solid great sailing boat!

Obtaining a fixed Prop is easy although, if I were you, I'd go with a Flex-O-Fold. We sailed a Cal 2-29 for 20+ years and the folding Prop really makes a difference. The Strut may be a bit more complicated. The acknowledged expert on Cal's was (click on) Seal's Spars and Rigging. Steve Seal (if he has not gone to Fiddler's Green) was a technician at Jensen Marine, builder of the Cal's, and an expert on the smaller (20-30') boats. On a worst case basis, you can have a strut made up.

Good Luck...

Having done the search for a strut bit, you are going to end up having one custom fabricated.
