RYA Dayskipper

Wanted to comment on my recent trip to Hamble Le Rice in the South of England where I just completed my RYA Dayskipper course, but had to return home because of the situation with the virus.
This course was outstanding in every aspect, as the course was both intense and fast paced. We were constantly on the go whether it was learning shore based activities such as VHF radio, survival training, boat and engine maintenance or out on the Solent practicing everything from MOB drills, navigational exercises all the way to pilotage planning where we made two trips across the English Channel to France on less than perfect conditions.
In all couldn't be more pleased as the instructors were very helpful and vastly experienced plus the surrounding community of Hamble was filled with a village completely made up from sailing backgrounds. Now hopefully I can put what I have learned to good use as I would like to find a boat to crew on!

Dennis, that's good to know. Do you want to name the school? always good to hear of good reports from businesses.

When did you do this? Would you recommend a particular time of year for it?

That's where I did my Yachtmaster Offshore + Ocean... in 1996 (Yikes!)

Glad to hear they're still going strong.

Just completed... course was to run from Feb to June (17 weeks for all online package, but you can do it in stages....best to go online at Hamble School of Yachting and it breaks it all down for you.

Re: RYA Dayskipper

I managed to complete the Day skipper theory course over 6 weekends, luckily the last day was 8th March , just before the lockdown, now waiting anxiously to do the practical, was supposed to do it in Spain during the first week of April, if anyone is thinking of this course, it is excellent and very detailed

Re: RYA Dayskipper

I can also highly Recommend Costa Blanca Sailing. I did the 9 day Day Skipper course in February 2017. Walter and Mike are excellent.
