Click on Topic - Jump to random post?

This has probably been covered, but I am unsure of what to search for.

Whenever I click on a thread, it jumps to a seemingly random post in the thread. I would like to go to the very first post in any given thread when I click it, but sometimes it will take me there, sometimes to the middle of page 4 of 5, sometimes to the last post

Is there a way to change my settings so it goes to the first post each time I click a thread? And I am very curious what determines which post it goes to right now, it seems way too random to me.

waiting with baited breath! I think what occurs with me is it jumps to the last comment that I viewed... so that may be on page 2 and there are many more pages after that. Kind of frustating when I just want to view the current comment.
The other thing that occurs is I see a comment (sent to my email,) and clik to go to cruisers forum... and that comment isnt on the forum yet!

the "go to the last viewed comment" idea makes sense...except this random comment thing happens on threads that I've never viewed before.

For example, I just clicked on this thread for the first time:

for some reason it goes straight to post #31!?!?

never clicked in that thread before. You would think it would take me to the first or last post


edit: that example is bad because #31 is the first post on the last page...kinda makes sense.

I believe what you are seeing is it jumping to a comment based on the date you last visited CF. There should be some settings in your profile to control this.
