Hi!

I'm Chani and I just joined up here!

I am fascinated by sailing and am attempting to learn all I can. Any websites or guides that you could recommend I would love to read.

My husband (who most definitely grew up sailing on family boats) and I are fixing up a small 13 ft sailboat and are almost ready to take it out on Texas lakes. Any recommendations for lakes in the Texas/Oklahoma/Louisiana area to trailer our boat?

My inlaws currently live on their sailboat in Mexico and I've had a bit of experience sailing with them and LOVED it! I am now hooked and want to know as much as I can.

Welcome!
Lake Palourde, about 4 miles across, 4 to 6 foot depth in most places, next to Morgan City, Louisiana I learned to sail there, first a Lightning then a Gulf Coast 23.
There is a nice park with boat ramp and docks. Just off of HWY 90.
Some times I go there in my trawler for short trip.

Its good to have you posting and asking questions about trailerable boats. I always recommend taking a basic sailing course if you can find one pretty cheap unless your husband is a good instructor. "Start Sailing Right!" is a great little book about sail and boat handling, well illustrated and easy instruction.

Thank you SkiprJohn- I think both of those are good ideas. I am trying to read anything helpful, and sailing lessons would not be a bad idea. As of now, I've only helped sail his parents 44 ft boat and I didn't do much honestly.
