Re: Which is better for Biaxial?

A lot of people are saying styrene is required to break down the binder. This is true however this...

Re: Grind nonskid off while keeping it flat

If you need to get the nonskid pattern off take a skill saw and set the depth so it just cuts the low parts of the nonskid then cut a tick yac toe board over the entire area. Sand until the board is...

The md5a required you loosen the injector line and then slightly loosen the fitting that attaches to the pump. There is a small check valve inside there that the feed pump cannot overcome even with...

Re: Sailing in recession ?

A Boat is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If I believe a boat is worth 100k and 100k is worth a years labour then the boat is in reality worth a years labour. Currency is nothing more...

Re: Is a "Radar Guard" worth it?

My mast has a gimballed radar mount with guard. It was very expensive but I think it has saved my radome from being damaged a few times

Re: Volvo MD5A water in crank

I have gotten glycol in the crank the first winterization by making the mistake of using a hand pump to pump glycol through the engine but as long as my starting battery is full I get enough...

Re: Volvo MD5A water in crank

Thank you. I do all my own engine work so it was me who suspected that perhaps the seal could leak into the block. Long story but I will never trust anyone to work on my boat but myself.
The quote...

Re: What should I do. Cost of owing/maintain and living questions

How much longer do you have left on your mortgage? In most cases property is an appreciable asset that you should absolutely not sell. This asset is leverage able which you could borrow against if an...

Re: Volvo MD5A water in crank

Its definately raw water. I don't have a closed loop on this engine. The boat is on fresh water. So no salt and I check the oil often so I caught the water intrusion almost immediately and have...

Re: The Russians are coming!

Russian ships in the Caribbean? I hope they have their boatus membership up to date otherwise their tow bill on their next breakdown could cost a fortune.

Volvo MD5A water in crank

Hi all. Have an issue with my diesel engine where I keep getting water in the crank. I've seen weeping at the head gasket so I am assuming there is something wrong there. So pre-spring launch I am...

Re: overpriced storm damaged catamarans40

Those boats are worth even less than the wrecked boats as most of the repairs need to be cut away and redone. I've seen "professional repairs" you just need to look for glasswork with voids and...

Re: Do you worry about Pirates?

You would be surprised, target shooting is becoming huge. My summers are for sailing, but shooting is my winter hobby. Myself and most shooters I know don't advertise that we shoot for fear of being...

Re: overpriced storm damaged catamarans40

I thought it would give me something to focus on instead of smoking. It was a derelict boat that I figured had some rot. By the time I got all the rotten wood out I had a bare hull. Some of the wood...

Re: Cost of Catamaran Sailing (Yes AGAIN!)

No the bank is covered to the same extent that you are. You are taking slightly more risk than the bank.
There is always risk.
Even paying cash you are taking risk like how quickly will the boat...

Re: Cost of Catamaran Sailing (Yes AGAIN!)

Technically no. They are taking the risk on the house and partially on the boat. As an individual you would be raked over the coals in interest because the lending rules are much different for...
