Re: Escape Hatch Failure
Amazing video, if it's real, but I think if your cat capsizes, there won't be a spark plug handy. |

Re: California communities suing for polluters to pay for storm damage
The retail price for a kwh in Texas, where production is a competitve market, is 3-4 cents. The production cost is, of course, a fraction of that. Solar is not yet cost-competitive, or even... |

Re: California communities suing for polluters to pay for storm damage

Re: Marine insurance, going naked.
And so do you. But neither of us knows how often friends get hurt and don't sue. But if there's 3 chances in 10,000 of losing everything I have, I'll insure against that if I can. |

Re: Marine insurance, going naked.
You suggested that the chance of being sued by a friend who got hurt on your boat were "vanishingly small" in the US. Took me about two minutes to find three cases. I guess we might disagree as... |

Re: Marine insurance, going naked.
I picked the three cases above because they all involve friends and family suing each other. Depressing. But the cynical among us (and you know who you are) will suggest that the potential of... |

Re: Marine insurance, going naked.
This thread is about NOT having insurance. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that negligence is often a question that goes to a jury. Getting to a jury is very expensive in the US. If you... |

Re: California communities suing for polluters to pay for storm damage
These studies go many bridges too far and have little credibility. For instance, - payments to Black Lung victims are free from income tax. That is a "subsidy" to the coal industry. -... |

Re: California communities suing for polluters to pay for storm damage
There are lots of greedy folks out there trying to get their hands on other people's money. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I'm going to figure out everyone that has a bigger carbon footprint... |

Re: NOAA Hurricane Forecasts
You will get a lot of flack, because your recollection is incorrect. Five days before Irma impacted the Florida mainland, the cone covered both coasts, and it never stopped covering both coasts. ... |

Re: Can Insurance companies survive and impact
It's getting harder and harder to get insurance along the Texas coast, and as most lenders require insurance, harder to get a loan, which means less poorly-built housing along the coast. It takes... |

Re: A dinghy and a lawsuit
Go to court. Take your friend if he'll go. Take evidence that hypalon boats need air on occasion. Worst that happens is you get the boat back, if the guy hasn't damaged it. |

Re: wonder what others pay for liability insurance
Quite right. If you injure someone badly, or disable them, $300,000 won't begin to pay the bill. |

Re: just wondering about liability release

Re: just wondering about liability release

It's not and it shouldn't be. Should seeking justice carry the risk of financial ruin? How many individuals could pay the legal expenses of a big company if they lose? |
